A determined Lady, a handsome Lord, a treasonous plot, a daring rescue, an enduring love.
Lord Geoffrey Clarence heroically saved the life of his best friend, Charlton Edgeworth, Viscount Pendholm, and six other people. He was then recruited to work covertly, in defence of crown and country – which resulted in the Prince Regent gifting him a substantial estate. Unfortunately, it came with a dangerous mission as a side ‘benefit’.
Lady Harriet Edgeworth decided, at first sight of Lord Geoffrey, that he was the man for her, her hero. In the year since, nothing has changed her mind. When Lord Geoffrey moves to an estate close to her home, she is delighted, and soon finds a way to volunteer to assist with the inventory of his new property.
Can Lord Geoffrey keep his mission secret, with Lady Harriet there every day? Can Lady Harriet convince Lord Geoffrey to see her as a woman, not just Charlton’s sister? And, if he does, can he keep her safe in the midst of a treasonous conspiracy?

Candy Briggs's review Jun 15, 2017 · edit it was amazing I loved this tale of danger and traitor's. The characters are fun but strong as well. Geoffrey is very gifted when it comes to weapons and is very intelligent. Where Harriet is vivacious and enthusiastic, she loves her family and has hidden talents. The plot is well thought out and compliments the characters. The author has done a splendid job of keeping our interest and made it enjoyable as well.
Delightful and Captivating. Lady Harriet fell in love with her brother's friend the day she met him, the day he saved her mother, brother and four other people's lives. He is a hero in her eyes but he sees her a child, and his friend's little sister. Harriet is however nothing but determined and she vows that one day he will see her as a woman. When Geoffrey is granted an estate by the Prince Regent and a mission to find traitorous papers, he doesn't expect Harriet to find a way to inveigle herself into the search and his life. In the search for artwork, treasure and hidden passages Harriet and Geoffrey fall in love. Highly recommended read. I received a complimentary copy of this book from the author. I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.
Lord Geoffrey has been given a large state called Witherwood Chase as a reward for services for Prince Regent. However, this reward includes a “nasty job”, he has to find documents about conspirators in the treason against the crown. Lady Harriet considers Lord Geoffrey a hero after saving her brother and mother’s lives. Everybody thinks it is just an infatuation because she is very young. However, her intentions are to convince him of her love. It is a funny reading with a lot of adventures trying to solve the mystery behind the walls of the large house. It is well-written, the characters are likable and the story enjoyable. I voluntarily reviewed an advance copy of this book.
