What a pleasant surprise this rocker story turned out to be. It was not all sunshine and butterflies, and it was sex, drugs, and rock n roll, but that is what a rocker story should be so I was thrilled. Didn’t mean I loved the actions of these knuckleheads because they really needed to kick in the ass at times. But, I had no problems accepting that this could really happen. We meet best friends, Sawyer and Jake, on the last day before Jake moves from England to Australia when they are only seventeen years old. Jake finally gets the nerve to tell Sawyer how he feels about him and kisses him. Sawyer freaks out and tells Jake to never contact him again. Fast forward ten years, Sawyer is now a rock star. Jake is his new head of security…and determined to finish what he’d started ten years earlier. Sawyer is gay, but is so far in the closet he doesn’t believe it himself. He sleeps with many women and has a different groupie on his arm every night. But he isn’t happy. He isn’t himself. He is an act; he is what the rock star status tells him to be. He is surrounded by many people but Sawyer is lonely…and then Jake comes back. Jake left a boy but came back a very determined and confident man. Sawyer responded to his kiss before he left, and Jake is dead-set on getting Sawyer to accept that he is gay AND accept that Jake is the man he was meant to be with. He has his work cut out for him because Sawyer is running on fear; fear of losing his awful mother, fear of losing his band mates, and fear of losing his career. But he is also intensely attracted to Jake and wants him desperately. Sawyer has a lot to work out and he treats Jake terribly before they finally get the kinks all unknotted. It’s not all about winning back the love of your life. There is a reason that Jake is the new head of security and that’s because the band has been receiving death threats; Sawyer particularly, and Jake takes his position very seriously. He is intent on keeping the love of his life safe, even though he has to jump through hoops to make it happen. We also have to deal with the band members and their issues. Matt is one crude and depraved man. He is all about the sex and drinking…night after night after night. His language is vile and he is a difficult man to love, but he turns out to be a good friend to Sawyer. Kip is Sawyers best friend and has been since Jake left them. He accepts everything about Sawyer and when he learns of his relationship with Jake it’s not even a blip on the radar. Kip was a great guy, a very likable guy. Sawyer’s fears were almost completely unfounded as his real family, the band, accepts him as he is. Especially since Sawyer almost broke Kip and Elle up by inadvertently, unknowingly, and stupidly using Elle as a beard…not realizing that Kip and Elle were together. I especially loved the ending. I could not imagine a better way for Sawyer & Jake, and the band to finish their story. It was a great ending, a great story, and now I get to look forward to crazy new porn starlet, Ry. That should be fun!

I don’t read a lot of m/m books, but when I saw rock star in the description for this one I knew I had to read it. I’m glad I did, too. It was HOT! Sawyer Knight is the lead singer of the hit group “Souls of Knight”. He’s playing the part of bad boy rocker, with women and partying, but deep inside he’s just going through the motions. There is something missing from his life. Enter Jake. They were once best friends, and Jake wanted more but Sawyer wanted none of it. 10 years later, they are reunited when Jake becomes Sawyer’s bodyguard. All the old feelings resurface, and this time Sawyer doesn’t seem as afraid of them, and Jake is determined not to give up. Can they find love together? Will Sawyer survive an outside threat? I think the thing I enjoyed the most about this book is the characters. Sawyer, especially, was painted very well for me as the reader. He has a lot of turmoil, and is afraid to fully embrace the feelings he has inside. Thus, he has overcompensated with women. When Jake re-enters his life, it’s like the layers start to get peeled back and he starts to tap into what can truly make him happy, even if he is a bit afraid to go there. He’s a really complicated but strong character that I very much enjoyed reading about. The plot of this book, even if it had the slight twist from my usual in being m/m, was just ok. It isn’t anything I haven’t read before, but I enjoyed it all the same. I think it was meant to be suspenseful in places, but I didn’t have a hard time figuring out what was going on. Perhaps I’m over-read, but I would say the plot was the weakest part of this book for me. Overall, I did enjoy following the story of Jake and Sawyer. They were sweet, and Jake was completely alpha badass hot which is wonderful no matter how you slice it. I found myself enjoying this very much. 4 stars. 5 stars = I freaking LOVED this book I really had no expectations when I started this book. I knew it was an M/M romance involving the front man of a rock group and his former friend who is now a security expert, but other than that I just picked up the book and began reading. From the Prologue I was sucked into Sawyer’s story and I knew it was not going to be your run-of-the-mill rock star romance. This became more apparent when Jake re-enters Sawyer’s life and Ms. Haken proceeds to weave a thoroughly enjoyable romance with a touch of suspense and a whole lotta love (yep, I went there). Being Sawyer Knight is the first book in the Souls of the Knight series. As the lead singer, it’s no surprise that Sawyer is the subject of the first book and I pretty much adored him instantly. From the outside, he has the perfect life, he’s rich, he’s famous, he’s hot and he’s adored by millions world-wide, but Sawyer knows that while adoration is great, it doesn’t fill that hole in his heart and he longs to find that person who is destined to make him whole. Little did he know, he’d already met and rejected that person, but luckily for Sawyer and the reader, Jake is dead-set on making Sawyer his this time around. And Sawyer learns what we readers already know, there is nothing sexier than a confident alpha male who is set on getting what he wants, especially when what he wants is you. This makes for some extremely intense scenes as Sawyer is confronted with indecision regarding his sexuality. As for the sex scenes, they are OH! MY! GOD! hot once Sawyer embraces his feelings for Jake.  Ms. Haken has kicked off her new series with a beautifully written and equally sexy romance about two men who get a second chance at love. The cast of characters that are included are an added bonus that enrich this book and make you want to read the next book in the series just so you can spend more time with them. I know I’m looking forward to the next book in the series. I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.  Reviewed by Angela at Crystal's Many Reviewers!

A passionately written romance with a roller-coaster ride of a storyline; Being Sawyer Knight was both entertaining and frustrating to read. Sawyer's conflicting emotions, while honestly portrayed, are difficult to accept, and at times make his character seem to be selfish and shallow. Jake's unending patience and steadfast love for Sawyer is contrasted with his own inner dialog in such a way that makes him the redeeming character in this unusual story. Tipping back and forth between their shared childhood memories, present circumstances and expectations for the future, this is one story that may just drive readers a little bit crazy but is guaranteed not to be boring! There are also multiple supporting characters, who have their own stories happening within the story. I ended up really enjoying the emotional and crazily complex storyline that is Being Sawyer Knight. I'm glad I read it, because it's a memorable story, and I'll be looking forward to tackling more of Nicola Haken's books in the future! My OFFICIAL REVIEW written for Carly's Book Reviews

Sawyer Knight is world famous rock star who is hiding something. Not only from the world but he is denying it about himself. He thinks if he lets it out or accepts it that everyone will reject him. Which is the thing is most afraid of. He has been able to not think about it for the last 10 years until someone from his past comes back into his life. His band has gotten a new head of security. When he is introduced to the person he learns it is his long time friend Jake. Jake’s dad got a better job and they had to move away. The day Jake moved away he let Sawyer know that he was attracted to him and had been for quite some time. Now that Jake is back Sawyer can no longer ignore that fact that he may be gay. Jake lets Sawyer know that he is back for him and won’t let him get away twice. Jake understands that Sawyer’s shell won’t be easy to crack. He is willing to take his time and help Sawyer realize how he really feels. The reason Jake signed on to be the band’s new head of security wasn’t just because of Sawyer. The band, mostly Sawyer has been receiving death threats. I really enjoyed this book. It was a different take on a romance. The book was very well written and the characters where engaging. I felt for Sawyer and the internal struggle he was going through. Jack was also was struggling. It was great when Sawyer learned people wouldn’t treat him any different. I look forward to reading more from this author. There are characters in this book that I would love to have their own book and read more about them. I was given this book in return for an honest review.

This review was left by Melissa a Book Worms Reviewer. We gave it 5 smokin' stars!!!  Thank you Melissa !!  What's the one thing that you can't have when your a world famous rock star? All  that fame, fortune, and the women. Whew, every man's dream. Right? Well every  heterosexual man that is. Sawyer Knight is all of the above except he's not  really happy. He has spent countless nights with women to bury who he believes  he is. People won't understand, not in his world anyway. When the best friend from his childhood shows up to show him who he really is,  can he face it? Jake has loved Sawyer since there were teenagers, been friends  with him longer than that. Since Jake kissed Sawyer when they were seventeen and  Sawyer rejected him, Jake has been pinning for him since. Can he make Sawyer see  who he really is and get passed his insecurities of "coming out" or will Sawyer  reject Jake once again? WOW!!!! This book was smokin and I don't just mean the men in it.Loved this book  and gave it a solid 5 stars. Holy hell, Sawyer and Jake are both epitome of  hotness, add rock star into that mix and life as a gay man just became my dream.  Okay well not really I could understand how Sawyer was feeling as far as being a  gay rock star. Who would really understand, Right? Wrong I loved that Jake was  strong enough to stand by his side as the war raged on in Sawyers head but was  able to kick his ass when he needed it.  If you have never read a M/M book before it can be shocking but for an old  reviewer like me it was just hot. The writing was solid, the story flowed. There  were a couple times that I wanted to hit Jake because he seemed to trying to  overcompensate for Sawyer being uncomfortable. He was sometimes a little mushy  but all in all it was a fantastic book. I look forward to Ry's story. Who's Ry  you ask? Well I guess you'll have to read it to find out.

Being Sawyer Knight (Book 1-Souls of the Knight) by Nicola Haken! Sawyer Knight is living the dream as the lead singer of Souls of the Knight. He has everything that anyone would dream of...fame, wealth, music, women throwing themselves at him but yet he has nothing at all. Sawyer is the most sought after musician but he leads a life of always trying to please everyone like his mother, manager and especially the world. There is one person that he has forgotten to please and that is himself! Jake Reed, his ex-bff is now back in Sawyers life as the lead of security. Jake has always wanted Sawyer and now he must convince him that he feels the same. The last time they saw each other was many years earlier in high school but Jake moved away with his parents but before he left, Jake kissed Sawyer good-bye which did not go well for the closeted Sawyer. Now that Jake is back will Sawyer let him into his heart and admit to the feelings that he actually has for his friend? This is a nice story of m/m romance and coming to terms with your sexuality and stop living the life that others expect you to live but to be true to your own self. I did enjoy the characters of Jake and Sawyer and I felt a connection between these guys which is beautiful. I truly liked how Jake knew exactly what he wanted in life and what he wants is Sawyer as it has always been Sawyer and now he must convince Sawyer to take that scary step out of the closet for true love. Nicola really connected the sex scenes so well with these characters and their story. I felt for Sawyer and all you want him to do is to admit his true feelings and stop living a lie to make others happy. For everyone who wants to read a sweet gay romance book than Being Sawyer Knight by Nicola Haken is the one for you! "Complimentary copy provided by author/publisher for an honest review."
