On a September night in 1882 a ship, the Rowland Evans owned by Captain John Evans of Borth, was abandoned in mysterious circumstances off Bardsey Island. The book describes the events which led him to the abandonment of the ship, disciplinary court and the loss of his master’s ticket, as well as painting a picture of Evans' life and ships and the village of Borth and its heritage.

About the Author

Jan Williams grew up in Borth, Ceredigion, later going on to live in Canada and England. She is a teacher, writer and award-winning storyteller and founded the Essex Story Tellers group, which has been commissioned to work on various local history projects. She is the author of ‘Essex Folk Tales’, ‘Essex Folk Tales for Children', ‘An Amazing Storytelling Cat’ and ‘The Ghost of Pendlesham Priory’. She is the great-granddaughter of Captain John Evans, the subject of this book.
