Beloved (The Salvation Series Book 1) by Corinne Michaels

Book 1 of 2 in the Belonging Duet

Men suck.

They break you. Leave you. Take everything until there's nothing left. And frankly, I'm done allowing them to make me feel insignificant. So, forget men. I'll just throw myself into my job, because at least that never fails me.

Jackson has other plans, though. I refuse to be impressed by his perfect body, the cute dimple on his cheek, or the rugged stubble on his face. Jackson Cole can be resisted.

But, I'm only fooling myself.

He's going to wear me down. I can feel it. In the end he'll prove that once again, I'm no one's beloved.

A wonderful book with a heart breaking ending for now. Can't wait to read the next book of the series about Catherine and Jackson to see what happens.

I had just finished reading The Consolation Duet books and I just had to go back and read The Belonging Duet. I absolutely loved The Consolation Duet books and when I discovered that The Belonging Duet was about Jackson and Catherine I was so excited to read them. Corinne Michaels knows how to tell a story. You fall in love with her characters from the first page. I loved this book but not so much the cliff-hanger. Luckily for me Beholden is already out. If you love a good romance, this book is for you.

I didn't know this book was in a series until the end. I was so upset I had to wait so long for the next book, but it was well worth the wait. I love Catherine and Ashton's relationship the most! I always love when two characters have such a strong friendship, it's almost better than the romance happening. Must READ!

This is a good book and I would recommend it, but there are a couple of things I didn't like. The first is the writing style. To begin I'm not crazy about first person and as I was reading I kept finding myself changing the tense of words and it started to bug me. I couldn't figure out what was wrong, then it dawned on me, it reads like a script. That was an issue for me because I'm NOT reading a script, I'm reading a novel. The second is that it ends with a cliffhanger. I don't like cliffhangers. This is clearly a part 1 and nowhere does it state that and it should. If I had known this before reading I would have waited until the whole thing was out, because in actuallity this is not a complete story, it's left unfinished. For me that is a problem. It's like paying for a pound of something and only getting half. You have to pay twice for something that should have been complete to begin with. And let's all face it the sequel will probably not be out for months and we'll forget a lot of what happened in this part.

Such as great read that will leave you breathless for more from these characters. I really enjoyed this read and hope that you will give it a chance as well. Very well written and flows so smoothly. Thanks Corinne Michaels for a great read! Catherine is a young lady that is done with men. She was left by her father when she was 9 and has never gotten over it. Her ex cheated on her with someone she thought was a friend so now she is just going to focus on her work and that is it. Catherine is trying to land some big jobs that can help her get promoted so she is focusing on those. Catherine is at the bar with her friends one night and she gets up to go to the bathroom when she runs right into a hunk and lands in Jackson Cole's lap. Now she is totally embarrassed and wants nothing more than to crawl under the table and hide. When Jackson and his buddies that he is with as for Catherine to have a drink with them, she quickly uses her engagement ring to get her out of the situation, even though she is not engaged anymore. There are sparks between her and Jackson but Catherine is not even going to acknowledge them and get out of there as soon as she can. Catherine is vying for a big job that could help her get promoted like she needs, the only thing is that when she gets to the meeting to pitch her ideas, her ex and his new girlfriend are there to pitch their ideas as well. Catherine gathers herself together and decides that she is not going to let them get to her, the only thing she doesn't know is that her ex has hacked into her files and stole all her ideas. How is Catherine going to overcome this now and at the last minute? When Catherine is chose to represent the company, she is summoned to meet with the boss that same night so she agrees to it because she said in the contract that she would be at their beck and call anytime. When she gets to the meeting, she is shocked to find out that Jackson is the man in charge of this company she is working for. This means that they are going to be working together a lot in the upcoming days, is she going to be able to do this? Of course, the sparks fly again immediately and Jackson is determined to not let her get away this time. He is going to make his feelings for Catherine known. Both Catherine and Jackson have their issues from the past that they are dealing with and that causes them to have their ups and downs but I believe brings them closer. This couple was lovely to read about and follow along with in their adventures. I am excited to read the next books in this series and see if we get more of Catherine and Jackson or if we get to meet some of their friends and follow their lives. Very well done Corinne Michaels. Great read!

Have you ever read a book that felt like a journey? That’s how I felt about this story. Catherine starts out at the second lowest point of her life and although it would be so easy to just throw in the towel and give in she doesn’t. She proves time and time again that she’s a fighter, that she deserves love and happiness, success and respect. Her growth was so admirable I wanted to high five her on more than one occasion. You have a woman left behind by the only two men that she has ever loved and still she’s ready to stand tall and put it all on the line again. Does she have doubts? Of course. Did I want to smack her? You bet. That’s what makes her relatable though. Queue the playlist because she’s only human! The dynamic between Cat and Ashton is so natural and fun that I found myself wishing that I could get in on one of their girls nights, naming calling and all. There is nothing like a great BFF in a story to set you straight and give you inappropriate advice about men and what you should use them for after you’ve gone through a bad breakup. These two had me rolling but also their love for each other warmed my heart. Ashton has been there for Cat when she had no one else. She’s her biffle and I love their love. Ok, now let’s get to the good stuff. An ex- Navy SEAL in a suit! Did you hear that? I said an ex- Navy SEAL IN. A. SUIT. That’s a double whammy folks. Jackson is what dreams are made of. He’s alpha without even trying and sexy as all hell. He has past, secrets that our girl Cat has no clue about. Demons that haunt him and have made him into the man that he is and their relationship is a learning curve for both of them. For once Cat is put first, treated with respect and is on cloud nine. Things couldn’t be and better until life gets in the way and pasts and presents collide rocking them both. I found myself wanting to shake them both at different times during this story and that’s ok because it’s all part of the journey. Corinne gave me the feels HARD and left me wishing and hoping, begging and crossing my fingers for them to come out on top and she did it all while making me laugh, cry, yell and stomp my feet and by melting my panties. THIS GIRLS GOOD. All of that and this is just the beginning. A debut novel that reads like it was written by someone that has been writing bestsellers for ages. Beloved is a solid 5+ star read for me, I dare you to disagree ;)

*I was given a gift of this book* I SO WISH I COULD GIVE THIS BOOK MORE THAN 5 STARS!!!!!!!! I am BLOWN AWAY!!! SERIOUSLY......BLOWN AWAY by this author! Pretty damn fantastic debut novel!! The writing is flawless, the storyline is beautiful and absolutely captures your heart from the start. I really tried to not devour it too quickly but I found myself reading wherever I could because I couldn't pull myself away!!! This is a MUST-READ this summer! I will be screaming it from the rooftops for sure!! Jackson is an extremely sexy, ex-Navy I have your attention, yet???? How about a body to die for, quick-witted and romantic??? And that doesn't even cover how much more this man is!!! He has loving parents and wonderful friends. But Jackson has a dark past, so much so that it causes him tremendous guilt and pain at times. Catherine is a beautiful, sassy and can hold her own like no one's business! She is just months into a bad breakup with her ex-fiancé when she captures Jackson's eye at a bar one night. Cat has a mountain full of baggage from her past. Unlike most of our leading ladies, she isn't whiny and annoying but that doesn't go to say that she doesn't have doubts that cause major issues in her life. Catherine's girlfriends are a hoot, hold no punches in telling her how it is.....there is no candy-coating which I find refreshing. The chemistry between Jackson & Cat is off the charts, truly SENSATIONAL! So much so, that I could feel it from beginning to end. It is so hard to put into words the love I feel for this book! It has captured my heart and I look forward to more from this amazing writer!!!

I swear I wrote a review years ago, but alas I can not find it. So I guess all I can really say is that this book made me fall in love with Corinne Michaels. This book follows Jackson and Catherine. Jackson is an extremely hot ex-navy seal because have you ever read about a not hot navy seal? Catherine has sworn off guys due to daddy issues and is out at a bar celebrating a friends birthday when she literally falls into Jacksons lap. Catherine is scared to let her guard down, but Jackson goes after what he wants, which is Catherine! A MUST read!

A Review of Beloved by Corinne Michaels Two broken souls - 5+++++ stars When we first meet Catherine, it is the day of her ninth birthday party and her beloved father is leaving her, never to be seen again. She thinks that it is because she isn't enough — that she wasn't quiet enough, good enough, happy enough, just "enough" of anything — to make her father want to stay. And, since she looks sooo much like her father, her mother takes it out on her throughout her childhood. Fast forward twenty years later and Catherine has two best friends, Ashton and Gretchen. She shares an apartment with Ashton, but is happily planning her wedding to Neil. When she gets their wedding invitations, she heads over to Neil's house to show them to him and catches him in the middle of having sex with someone she thought was her friend. Three months later, she is out celebrating Gretchen's birthday with her friends when a fall lands her in the lap of a gorgeous man. When he asks for her name, she tells him she is engaged and leaves the restraunt as quickly as possible. A couple of days later, she ends up going head to head against Neil for a new client, only to find out that he stole her pitch — turns out, you can't trust a cheater to not use your passwords when you've used his computer to log in to business. When she ends up winning the client after all, she is stunned to find the sexy Jackson at the first meeting she has with the CEO of the company. Catherine is dealing with a lot of pain due to her father leaving her when she was young and the crappy childhood she had. She doesn't want to get mixed up with Jackson, but her body is so drawn to him that she can't avoid getting closer to him. And, the closer they get, the more he helps her heart to heal. But, Jackson is holding some dark pain and regrets of his own, which ends up causing more pain for both of them. What happened when he went back to the desert to pick up the body of his friend? This book ends on a major cliffhanger, but I have hope that things will work out for them in the end. Can't wait to get the next book to find out where their story goes. **Honest review voluntarily provided for purchased product.**

Beloved is a fantastic debut novel by Corinne Michaels! We meet beautiful but insecure Catherine and hot as sin former Navy Seal, Jackson. Catherine is battling abandonment issues stemming from her father walking out on her 9th birthday and never coming back. Adding to this is the betrayal Catherine is handed when she walks in on her fiancé having sex with one of her friends. The reader gets to see two sides of Catherine, the insecure woman who has been let down by the two men she's loved the most in life, and the confident business woman who kicks butt as a Publicist. Catherine has a chance encounter, falling into the lap of a gorgeous guy in a restaurant, and said gorgeous guy turns out to be her next client, the owner of a cosmetics company that is seeking a Publishing firm. Corinne does a fabulous job of pulling the reader into the story in the way she lays out each scene. The story is told from Catherine's POV and she doesn't hold back Catherine's thoughts or feelings. Poor Catherine, anything and everything that can go wrong does, putting her into some pretty stressful situations. Not to mention she is constantly pestered by her ex-fiancé through text messages and phone calls. The only good things that happen to her occur when she is with Jackson, and boy does some really good stuff happen when they are together! Jackson is swoon worthy to the max, always being there as a support system for Catherine. We get bits and pieces of his story when Catherine asks him questions, but there is still a lot to him that we don't know, like why in the world a former Navy Seal who runs his own Security company also owns a cosmetics company? I found Catherine to be a bit frustrating, running hot and cold quite a bit when it came to Jackson. I truly enjoyed their quality time together, and their sex scenes are off the charts hot! But when push comes to shove, Catherine continues to run from Jackson and push him away. She finally comes to her senses at the end of the book, but now we don't know if it is too late! Major cliffhanger!! Corinne lets us into Catherine's head and the inner dialogue that we read about really gave me a good insight into how Catherine's mind works and what events have occurred that has shaped her life and mindset. I am really hoping that in book 2 we see a stronger, more confident Catherine in her personal life, as we've already seen in her professional career. Great job on your first book, Corinne! I can't wait to get started on Beholden and see what the future holds for Catherine and Jackson!
