She's the Captain's daughter. He's the Hardass cop. They thought they knew what they wanted till they both realized they craved something the other was afraid to give. From start to finish their story pulled me in. Molly has laid the ground work for her Vegas Heat series in this first book of the series. And while she may have written this first book so that it could very well be a stand alone if it need be, she introduces us to the key players so well you'll find yourself wanting to know more. What happens and whose story will she weave for us next?

Molly McLain is a new-to-me author, and the glorious cover of Bend alongside the foes-to-lovers story line had me intrigued. It left me with mixed feelings by the end, however. The blurb didn’t quite live up to the story itself. Kinsey is the police chief’s daughter, but that doesn’t mean she takes advantage of her father’s position. Nor does she want to. In fact, she resists every time her father encourages the idea of her dating a cop. Which isn’t helped by Sergeant Hardass, aka Trent, who has it out for her. Unfortunately for Kinsey, a shoplifter in her lingerie store requires his help. Trent Clark wants to move up in the world of law enforcement. He has plans to be detective, and the job of catching Kinsey’s robber is his chance. If only “Princess” didn’t rub him the wrong way. And make him want her. The two clash, but soon desire flares, and they both wonder: would it be so bad to give in? The book started roughly for me. The first thing that threw me were the quick shifts in the point of view. Within the first chapter, it shifts four different times, and the brief snippets only confused me. The second thing that threw me in the book was Sergeant Hardass. I imagined a cop with a serious mien and a play-by-the rules attitude. Instead, for most of the book, Trent didn’t act like a professional cop, almost in a juvenile manner, and he ended up being - in romancelandia terms - more of the alpha-hole variety. I stuck with it, however, and I am glad that I did. The characters were more fully realized about a third of the way through the book. Kinsey and Trent have more in common than they thought, and they were smokin’ together. Combustible. It surprised me how compatible they were, and their banter made for a fun and engaging read. While there was a lot of promise in this book, I still don’t feel like it reached its full potential. I was just glad to see Trent redeem himself. I'm interested to see what else this author comes up with in the future.

Bend by Molly McLain Vegas Heat #1 Trent and Kinsey have been tap dancing around one another for a while. They chip away at one another but in some ways they are also flirting. Trent is a tough police officer and Kinsey is the daughter of a police captain. Someone is stealing from her shop and Trent is assigned to the case, a case he doesn’t take as seriously as he should in the beginning. As the story progresses things heat up between Trent and Kinsey but there is a question whether or not they will get their HEA due to a secret Trent has been keeping. The thief and a murderer are eventually caught and Trent and Kinsey have their chance at a HEA that may solidify in future books of the series. Various characters are introduced that may show up in future books of the series. I enjoyed the dynamics between the main characters and found this to be an easy to read standalone story. There wasn’t the depth some books have but at just over 100 pages that is to be expected. Thank you to the author who gave me an ARC to read through NetGalley. This is my honest review. 3-4 Stars

Absolutely Love this first book in the Vegas Heat series! I really enjoyed the humor in this story......especially the opening scene with Kinsey once again getting pulled over by Hunky Police Office, Trent!! Molly McLain's ability to write tantalizing love stories never ceases to amaze me! With a super hot hero, steamy sex scenes, and a strong sassy heroine, Bend is one of her Best!! Bend is definitely a "Can't Put it Down" book!!

Bend is fantastic quick read. The writing is great so the pages just flew by. Both characters sooo likable well develop interesting with great chemistry. Kinsley has no one to call for help when she finds out that someone is stealing from her store but arrogant annoying Trent. The cop who also works for her father and who is also very hot. Trent likes to annoy Kinsley a lot but the night at the Bal changes their unpleasant interaction in very hot secret relationship. The love scenes are so great written and hot and just waaau. I liked that the story is unpredictable both characters strong enough to recognized their mistake to talk about them and to accept help-trouth, love from their partner. Very good story. Recommended! I volunteered to review an ARC of this book for Netgelly

This isn't the first book that I've read by Molly McLain and it most definitely won't be my last. You want to know why? She writes a badass hero. Every. Time. Great characters will keep me coming back to an author every time! Since I did love the characters so very much, I want to touch on them first. Well ... not LITERALLY touch ... unless we're talking about Trent ... but I'm married ... and he's nonexistent ... the last part is obviously the bigger issue, right? So anyway ... Trent is this badass, sexy cop that is quite possibly the most irritating man that Kinsey has ever met. Which just makes him that much more attractive, obviously. I was caught between grinning like an idiot at him and being irritated and then grinning again ... it was awesome! McLain made me wish this dude was real so I could hang out with him because I'm sure he would constantly stir the pot and I find that more than amusing. And then Kinsey. Dude. She was a total spitfire. You know how they say kids of a cop or pastor are more wild than other kids? Well, that wasn't really the case most of the time. Except for that one thing ... DAMN. I'll never look at a bathroom the same again. Kinsey was a fabulous character to read because you really never knew what the hell she would say next. Which is exciting! The story itself was nothing less than what I have come to expect from this author. It kept me entertained and glued to the pages of this book because it just pulled you in. I found myself reading when I should have been moving Beezilbop (our stupid Elf on the Shelf) which left me scrambling all bleary-eyed in the morning trying to race to move him before our youngest monster woke up. But I would do it all over again if I had the chance. There were quite a few twists and turns that I hadn't expected and the story was fairly involved - there was more than one thing going on at once and that made the story move even faster which made me read even faster which made my wonderful experience with this book, END even faster. I'm a forever fan of McLain. Can't wait to see what else she has in store for this series because this first one was pretty freaking awesome. * I received this novel in exchange for an honest review *

I think this is Molly's hottest book yet; it will melt your panties! I’ve been reading Molly McLain’s books from the very beginning and have enjoyed all of them. With the Vegas Heat series she really turns up…well, the heat! This book is not for the faint of heart. The characters like it hard and fast and they talk dirty! The story is told in first person, alternating between Trent and Kinsey. Trent is a cop and he’s pulled Kinsey over for various traffic violations more than once; he also just happens to work for Kinsey’s dad. Kinsey feels like he is picking on her and is tired of his harassment. She really doesn’t want to have anything to do with cops. When Kinsey needs help catching the person stealing merchandise from the store she manages, she is forced to work closely with Trent after he is assigned the case. Despite their negative attitude towards each other, underneath there is a spark of something. Trent doesn’t want to act on it because he has a secret and he’s afraid if Kinsey finds out she will run away. He also thinks he’s not good enough for her. I could feel the tension between these two from the very beginning of the story. While I was certain that they’d end up together it was great to read how they got there. The story tugged on my emotions and I felt so bad for Trent when he revealed his secret. There are also some pretty intense scenes between Kinsey and her overprotective father that had me siding with her. Like I said, Ms. McLain really turns up the heat in this story. The language is coarse and the sex is explicit and plentiful. The writing is still the same fantastic storytelling that I’ve come to expect from her and I’m looking forward to reading more in this series. An advanced copy of this book was provided to me but my review was voluntary and not influenced by the author.

What a fun and steamy read! Bend is a great mix of angst, humor, and of course sexy times! I love the enemies to lovers trope and Trent and Kinsey did not disappoint with their awesome chemistry. Both characters have their faults, but I loved that each tried to do their best (however misguided) to protect the ones they love and themselves. The vulnerability they both eventually showed to the other only made their relationship sexier to me and I really liked that Kinsey especially spoke her mind and called Trent out on his behavior. Learning his backstory was definitely heartbreaking, but I loved how it brought the characters and story full circle. Kinsey's relationship with her father was also a great addition. It was very sweet while providing some lightheartedness and humor to the story, especially his unannounced visit at the end ;) I did find the theft/police story line a little hard to follow, but that's probably because I was excited to get back to Trent and Kinsey. It helped bring our main characters together though, so I understand the role it played in the story. The epilogue was perfect and this was a great start to the series. I'm excited to read more about Trent's brothers and his co-workers, Will and Dez, and look forward to more Vegas stories. *I voluntarily read a free an advance reader copy of this book. Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley*

Received an ARC for honest review for netgalley. Loved this couple. Trent and Kristen couldn't stand each other, or so they said, lying to themselves, and to others. Both had misconstrued ideas of each other, and when they got to know each other they were all wrong. When they got to spend time together, they really liked each other. It was heartwarming to read about her and dad, sometimes you wanted to knock him out, but you saw the love each of them had for each other, it was sweet. First book I read from author, wont be last, can't wait for next segue of Vegas Heat.

rent, a cop with a disturbing past keeps pulling Kensey, the captains daughter over on a traffic violation. Their love/hate banter is electric and it was fun watching it build until Trent finally does something about it. I enjoyed this sexy, short read and can't wait for more in this series! ARC provided by NetGalley.

Quick read with some heart...and HEAT!! Sergeant Trent Clark loves to rile Kinsey Malloy, his police captain's daughter. She gives him the nickname Sergeant Harda** for a reason. They could not be more different, but when the sparks fly - watch out!! Can a quickie turn into something more? This is a quick read with some heart and a good start to the series. What happens in Vegas.... Received an ARC from the author for an honest review.

Seriously sexy and completely entertaining. I really enjoyed the initial relationship between Trent and Kinsey with their snarky banter and barbs thrown back and forth. Trent is a beat cop working for Kinsey's father. He doesn't cut her any slack though and seems to truly enjoy getting under her skin. Then he's assigned to work on a case that would help her find out who is stealing stock from the lingerie store she manages. Them spending any time together could be a problem. Or...It could be the best thing that happens to either one of them. I would recommend this one to everyone.

Bend is a naughty battle of wills between two huge personalities. Ms. McLain pulls the reader in with this intense tug of war. There is no question that attraction bubbles under the surface and is just waiting to explode. Trent is a by the rules cop with high standards and a rep that precedes him, Kinsey is the object of his secret fantasies. The tension is thick enough to sink your teeth into but the outcome is about as obvious as the change of season. A stormy, cataclysmic romance full of grit and heated chemistry.
