Best Enemies by Jane Heller

Book publicist Amy Sherman tripped over it when she caught her fiancé horizontally attached to her best friend, the impossibly tall, inexcusably blonde, and insufferably gorgeous Tara Messer, who added insult to injury by marrying the cad right out from under her.

After four years of therapy, Amy's finally back on track-until she has to publicize the hottest new book of the season by "the next Martha Stewart." Nightmares do come true. It's the dreaded Tara who's the author, and why shouldn't she write a bestseller about perfection? She's the perfect woman enjoying the perfect life with the perfect man. Who'd ever guess she's living the perfect lie?

When Amy tries to save face by roping a handsome mystery writer into posing as her fiancé, her little white lie leads to yet another romantic triangle. She just might find true love this time-if she lets herself-but first she and Tara must settle old scores and team up against the man who played them both...

This book was a waste of time. It started off interesting but later dragged and turned out to be so predictable. I have no interest to read any of the authors other books. The writing style of the author was too corny and the dialog between the characters were not developed or matured.

It's rare that I don't finish a book. I may have done that a handful of times in my 46 years, but I honestly could not stomach the characters in this book. Amy was a complete doormat and wuss. She should have told Tara off a long time ago but instead played into her games over and over again. Tara was a total b@tch. She may have possibly redeemed herself somewhat at the end (according to other reviews) but at that point, the damage was done for me. I did not have an ounce of respect for either of these women. A lot of reviews said that this story was funny, which is why I bought it. I never got that. The 2 main characters were more pathetic than funny. A lot of people liked this book, so maybe it's just me. I tend to like strong characters and this story lacked that for me. Sadly, I will not read anything else from this author.

I got in to this book because I had to read a book for a report. Once I got into this I couldn't put it down. It's an amazing book and Amy is definitely a relate able character. A realistic book with a funny and romantic twist in it. I actually wished I could jump in and join the characters myself. Especially the sexy and mysterious Tony Stiles.

I picked up this book to read on vacation. It was a cute book about best friends that became best enemies over a boy. An easy, enjoyable, relaxing fun read. I have already given it to lots of my friends and they all love it too.

I tend to gravitate back to Jane Heller's novels and enjoy them, and this one didn't dissapoint. But, felt Tara's side was a bit rushed and short. Was miffed she left out the B. in Robert B. Parker. Share it with your friends.

I am usually a Danielle Steel reader, but when I saw this book at the store I thought I'd give Jane Heller a try. I finished the book in a few hours. It was SO different & interesting and shows how things in life can come full circle.
