This is one of the most interesting cookbooks on Crockpot cooking that I've ever seen. It includes things you'd never think of doing in your crockpot like making cakes and preserves. It also includes recipes for claypot cooking. Just a neat book.

I just can't let these bad reviews go. This book is FILLED with techniques that make using your slow cooker with FRESH, REAL, WHOLESOME ingredients worthwhile. If you're looking for the "shake onion soup mix over the roast and add potatoes and carrots" recipes, this isn't for you. There is not a SINGLE "pour a can of cream of mushroom/celery/chicken/ soup" recipe or a "pour a can of commercially made salsa over it" recipe in this book and I say THANK GOD! I have a personal chef business where I use slow cooking all of the time and have turned to this book again and again for techniques, inpiration and education. The ONE tiny comment I have is many of the "one-pot" meals are wok-based and I don't consider wok'ing slow cooking at all. Understand the clay pot and the roasting dishes included here, but not the wok'ing. But they are only about 15% of the book. And the first 30 or so glorious pages on meat cuts and general cooking knowledge are so helpful for a budding cook -- so you can be a beginner and use this book. Read. Learn. Enjoy -- best $9.98 I have spent in a long time.

this book should not be under slow cooker recipe books. this book is more for cooking on top of your stove then transfering it to your oven or cooking in clay pots and casseroles. i was looking for actual slow cooker recipes. plus not alot of the recipes look that great. can see why the price is so low you get what you pay for.

Wow, NOT JUST FOR CROCKPOTS! teaches you to cook like Grandma did. (from scratch). Really benefited from all of the pictures, including one of each receipe. The first part of the book explains how to use that castiron and pampered chef stoneware we all have in our cabinets.
