This was a surprisingly good selection of food essays, some from well-known authors (like Ruth Reichl and Rick Bayless) and some from authors previously unknown to me. Almost every essay includes a recipe, and although I wasn't particularly interested in trying those particular recipes, I did pick up a few tips, like brining chicken overnight before frying it. Because the essays are short and completely unconnected, this is a good book for reading when you only have a few minutes here and there.
This series is always a pleasure, but I think the selections in this one were not quite as good as 2004.
