Everyone in Royal, Texas, now knows former special agent Gabe Walsh’s connection to the blackmailer terrorizing the town. And Gabe’s suddenly guilty by association. Worst thing is, Chelsea Hunt blames him for the compromising photos of her that everyone’s talking about. But since he and Chelsea are planning the Christmas wedding of their best friends, Gabe has many opportunities to show the sexy cowgirl just what a good guy he really is. And apparently he’s pretty convincing, because she soon winds up in his bed! But is this just a holiday fling or the real thing?

Best Man Under the Mistletoe is the twelfth book in Harlequin Desire’s The Cattleman Club: Blackmail series. Oh my, we final got our answers as to who the blackmailer was. I’m a longtime fan of all of The Cattleman Club series’, but for some reason I had a little more difficult of a time getting into this book. I enjoyed the overall storyline and the chemistry between the two characters, but I felt something was missing. There is a bit of suspense and we have a surprise ending. This is a standalone book but I do suggest reading the rest in the series just because it is a fantastic series. I’d like to disclose that I received an advanced copy of Best Man Under the Mistletoe. I read this voluntarily and this is my true and honest review.

Passion, lust, mistrust, and apprehensions mixed with little bit of Christmas, a lot of wedding, and eventually an abundance of emotions. This story is the last book in the series, yet can be easily read as a standalone novel. There's a touch of intrigue with the blackmailing maverick who has devastated so many lives in the town and the fact that his conspirator is still unknown and at large, puts everyone on the edge. The bit of suspense gives another layer to the story and a good reason for a conflict between the hero and the heroine but is by no means the main focus in the tale. That honor goes to the sizzling hot affair that kindles between Gabe Walsh and Chelsea Hunt. It was supposed to be a fling but it turns into a thing as the kindling flares, and emotions take root. This is a wildly entertaining story filled with passion that turns into affection as Gabe and Chelsea get to know each other better and finds out about the deeper layers of their personalities, hopes, and goals. The author delivers just what I expected and was in the mood for - a lot of fun banter, ardor, swooning, sighs, and ends with a smile ~ Four Spoons

Such an enjoyable read! The story line has a hint of mystery, mistrust, a wedding and an undeniable attraction. The characters are strong but also have a vulnerability. Loved the story and look forward to more. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book; all opinions expressed are my own.

This is the final story in the Texas Cattleman's Club: Blackmail series. Although part of a series, this book can be read as a stand alone. The blackmailer and his accomplice are revealed and the trauma that they caused is finally settling down. The victims are finding their happily ever after and moving on with their lives. Gabe Walsh is trying to live down the tarnished reputation associated with his last name and Chelsea Hunt is trying to move on from the devastation of the nude photos that were released. She and Gabe are working together on their best friends' wedding but Chelsea is struggling to trust Gabe. The more time they spend together, the more they come to trust each other. Feelings grow but both must still overcome the insecurities present. A great story that will have the reader hooked until the very end. I received this ARC from the author but the thoughts and feelings are my own.
