Overview

This two-disc, 31-track set collects some of the key sides B.B. King cut for the Bihari Brothers' RPM Records and its successor Kent Records between 1949 and 1962, after which King moved on to sign with ABC-Paramount Records. The best of King's early R&B hits are here, including "Three O'Clock Blues," "Woke Up This Morning," "When My Heart Beats Like a Hammer," "Every Day I Have the Blues" (like "Three O'Clock Blues, a Lowell Fulson remake), and his passionate two-part version of Joe Turner's "Sweet Sixteen," along with other key sides from the period.
