Best Served Cold by Emma Hart

Revenge is a dish best served cold. Which is a real problem when the attraction runs red-hot.

Trust me. I know. The only reason I decided to renovate my family’s ice-cream store was to serve up a sundae full of revenge for my a-hole ex who opened an ice-cream store right next to mine.
It was supposed to be simple.
Renovate. Reopen. Put his peachy butt out of business.
Until he decided to get under my skin—and broke my toe.
Now, I’m stuck with Chase in my store every day, helping me renovate. But he’s also in my head, and I’m spending a little too much time up against his abs.
Not that it’s the worst place to be.
But it doesn’t change anything. I still hate him, and I’m still going to get my revenge.

I’m sure I’ve said this previously but Emma Hart is the queen of romantic comedy. Best Served Cold is one of the best second chance stories with an enemies to lovers feel to it. Ms. Hart is crazy witty and full on fun and entertaining. I just love the little tangents she goes on just to circle back. The way she writes pulls me in and makes me literally laugh out loud. The banter and humor between these covers is one of the funniest I have ever read! Raelynn was an off the charts hot mess… a hilarious hot mess! Chase is also a mess but so sweet… ok, he’s a bit brain dead in the female section of the brain. I love the creativeness Rae excludes. It was an amazingly sweet and sexy story. The supporting characters… the sister, the best friend, and the innocent store owners. I think what really pulled me in was how light-hearted and sweet this story was. It wasn’t too intense and hard but light and uplifting. I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that... my opinions.

This romcom is fun, funny and snarky. I thoroughly enjoyed it and laughed a lot as I read it. I really loved it. Raelynn and Chase...sigh, they needed to communicate better. But then if they did we wouldn’t have had this great book! He opened her dream, or so she thought, ice cream parlor, using her ideas. She wants to deliver him payback with a spoon and out of business sign on top. Their adventures in discovering their past, present and future we leave you in a happy, smiling place!

This book had me laughing throughout. Whether it was Rae putting Chase in his place at every turn, or Chase blatantly flirting with Rae, I couldn’t help but fall in love with these characters. Rae was an awesome heroine. She’s strong, but had been knocked down a few times so it took a bit to find her strength again. Chase is, well... he’s a typical guy. Had all good intentions, but somehow screwed it up without meaning to. This story will draw you in from the start and leave you dreaming of unicorn ice cream, otters, and a little bit of revenge. A fantastic book that I would definitely recommend!!!

As a lover of second-chance romances, dual POVs, happily ever afters, and certain authors, I'd say that all bases were covered with BEST SERVED COLD, the latest offering from author Emma Hart. There is not one thing that I didn't adore about this book, and I'm still smiling days later. Rae and Chase are meant to be, even if they haven't both come to realize it. Rae is, as are all of Emma's heroines, sassy, strong, and headstrong, to boot. She's not willing to let the problems from their past go, no matter how much her feelings are telling her that it may be time. I'm not sure that I'd have liked Chase at first meeting. Cocky high school guy, popular, I'd have been with Rae. But the Chase of today would totally win me over, because, underneath all of the snark and cockiness is a guy that just really wants a second chance with the love of his life, and is willing to do what it takes to get it. I have been a fan of Emma's books for forever, but I have to say, I am so happy that she's found her niche with rom-coms. Starting one of her books never fails to make me fall in love right along with the characters, and keeps me laughing at the same time, which is the mark of a wonderful read for me. An easy 4.5 stars for me, BEST SERVED COLD is a feel-good read that fans of contemporary romantic comedies will love, and should make room for at the top of their TBRs.

WARNING!!! You need to have a tub of ice-cream by your side while reading… I WANT A UNICORN ice-cream and a mermaid ice cream!! First of all, I have to say that I am in love with the cover of Best Served Cold! It is fresh, trendy and attractive, it just makes me smile! Emma Hart knows how to write a romcom, she has the ability to make her readers LOL, swoon and feel at the same time. Best Served Cold has all the ingredients of a fantastic romcom combined with a second chance/ enemies to lover storyline. I love Rae and Chase! Rae is bubbly, witty and has tons of sass! When she realised what Chase’s plans were, she had no other choice than getting her act together if she wanted her business to succeed . “ I could make ice-cream before I could tie my shoelaces on my own. It was all second nature to me.” So yes, her intentions towards Chase are not what they seem but Rae despite her sass and her witty sense of humour, is a woman with a big heart. She is convinced that she is OVER him, but is she? “I’d fallen in love with him in a heartbeat. Despite his persona and ability to keep up with my smart mouth, he was charming and thoughtful and sweet.” The banter between Rae and Chase made me laugh, a lot, like the full on belly laughs. I love Chase, I mean he had his heart broken and the relationship he has with his mum is just the best Swoon * Swoon* “She could be a B, but she could also be the best person I’d ever known. She didn’t think with her head, she thought with her heart.” So when Chase and Rae are in the same room or painting together ;-) , we , readers can feel their scorching chemistry and I even found myself shouting out loud!!!! “If you keep playing with fire, even your heart will melt” Have they both moved on? Does Rae deserve a second chance? Are they meant to be? I was expecting Best Served Cold to be another wonderful romantic comedy but it's so much more. Indeed, it’s about friendship, trust and forgiveness. Best Served Cold is an entertaining and sexy story that will make you feel good by the incredibly talented Emma Hart!! LOVED IT!

They say that revenge is a dish best served cold and Raelynn is anxious to prove that theory. Her passion is her ice cream shop, an establishment that has been passing from generation to generation in her family. When she finally became the owner, she hoped she could put into practice everything she had ever dreamed of. But when she breaks up with her boyfriend, he opens a store next to hers. An ice cream shop. Using all her ideas. Chase, better known as an ex-boyfriend, thief of ideas, becomes her number one enemy. Two years later, Raelynn's business is going through difficulties, after all Chase attracted her clientele. On the verge of bankruptcy, she decides to use an old loan and renovate her shop, and so compete with Chase and who knows to get him out of circulation. The ice cream war is declared. May the best ex win. But between flavors, sprinkles, cones and sundaes, Raelynn will find that a mistake can last longer than expected, that the line between love and hate is dimmer than she might think and that sometimes the evil guy is not the villain at all. Raelynn and Chase have unfinished business, after all she ends the relationship, gave no explanation and never talked to him again. And while she renovates her store, create a new menu and try not to kill herself in the middle of the do-yourself project (but the way Raelynn is a magnet for disaster, I've never seen a person more clumsy with a tool) she has to deal with Chase's presence, who decides to be present and ends up helping in the reform. The two may be in an ice cream shop, but the temperature is about to boil. The content of the book combines with the cover (which by the way is beautiful), it is cute, cheerful, funny and romantic. The couple protagonist is funny, sarcastic and enthralling. Chase is the perfect crush. His idea was not the smartest, but I understand his despair. He has loved Raelynn in the past, has continued to love during the two years of silence and still loves her, even with all the anger and resentment with which she refers to him. Raelynn had her annoying character dose. The end of the relationship was her fault, she refused to listen to the explanation all this time and when the truth comes out, she refuses to forgive and play the victim, but she also broke Chase’s heart. Get an ice cream, relax, start reading and get ready to warm your heart. Best Served Cold is a great novel.

Emma Hart's books always bring rays of sunshine into a sometimes cloudy day. Best Served Cold did just that with all the snark, heat, and laughter that accompanied every chapter of Raelynn and Chase's journey through love, heart break, hate, revenge to only find out that they never stopped loving each other to begin with. Every page of every chapter left me in tears of mirth, gasp of surprise, or with hot flashes gulping down cold beverages. This couple inspires lots of laughter and warm and fuzzy feelings to grow until they are uncontrollable and escape no matter where you are. Raelynn Fortune is an independent, strong willed woman wrapped up in snark and unimaginable clumsiness. This sassy heroine kept me laughing through all of her clutzy moments, crying over her avoidable heartache, and bowing to her superior ice cream making skills. A women full of sarcasm, mistakes, and humor is someone that I love to spend time with and Raelynn has all of that and so much more...and did I mention her stellar skills with sweets? What more could a reader ask for in a fictional female friend? Chase Aarons is a delicious book boyfriend who has been nursing a broken heart for two years and trying to get the love of his life back, in the worst way possible. I couldn't help but fall hard for him and his “man like tendencies” that usually ends up in nothing but disaster. Chase wooed me right along with Raelynn with all of his sweet gestures and kept me salivating with all of his yummy muscles and sexiness. To readers, he will be hard to forget and impossible to hate and not fall madly in love with. A heroine should never pass up a hero who understands her snark, indulges her whims, and saves her from her own clumsiness. What isn't there to love and adore about Chase? Emma Hart delivers another silly charismatic family to fall deeply in love with and a couple that keeps things as sweet and delicious as your favorite bowl of ice cream. Best Served Cold will leave you with love in your heart for a new couple and their family and possible sweet tooth. I have always adored Emma Hart's writing from the moment I opened my first book by her. And I find with every book, I appreciate more and more of her uncanny wit and off the wall sense of humor. A reader can't help but look forward to the next book full of sarcasm and steam that she will send our way.

I love Emma Hart rom-coms. There is something about her books that have the perfect amount of snark. Raelynn has the perfect of snark that I needed as a reader. The characters and the ice cream shop were great in this story, but the plot overall was lacking for me. It seemed forced in a way. Raelynn’s character was good and I loved seeing her ice cream creations, but the overall plot just didn’t do it for me. Had the plot been a little different, my interest would have held a little longer. The characters were true to Emma form and had me laughing out loud and loving the comedy and I can’t wait for another book, this one just wasn’t my favorite.

Best Served Cold was a good story about ex lovers Rae and Chase! They haven’t spoken in two years since the split when Rae broke up with him and he opened his own ice cream shop! We come to learn why he did what he did and how Rae can overcome that and revamp her own shop! I liked the banter and the friendships in this story. I smiled in parts and laughed in others and I was certainly hoping for a hea as I rather liked Rae, she deserves one after her dramas. She was rather accident prone and it was quite funny the things that happened. I promise im laughing with her not at her! I really liked how this book ended and I loved how the real sense of family became even better!!

Best Served Cold by Emma Hart made me feel two separate things. First, it made me love the characters. Emma Hart always knows how to create these amazing characters that make you laugh and make you swoon with their actions. I loved slow burn that this book created. It made me yearn and want more for this couple. While the characters were amazing and the story had a cute concept, I did not like the plot. It seemed a little forced and didn’t seem genuine. I did love the whole ice cream shop. It was my favorite and it was very inspiring especially with the drive that the Raelynn had. I loved that and all her cute ice cream creations. I think that if everything was the same except the plot than I would have loved this book. I did enjoy it but it was missing that little kick that always comes with an Emma Hart book. Four Day Fling did blow me away but this one fell a little short for me. I am excited for the next one though. Emma Hart has always been one of my favorites.

Best Served Cold is as always a great story. It is fun, sexy and romantic!!!!! Raelynn and Chase were once lovers. Now they are enemies. They both have ice cream shops and are competitors. The characters are fantastic, the plot is entertaining and I laughed all the time. Everything about this story is a win for me. The secondary characters add to the story and it makes it even more entertaining!!! Great read!

Best Served Cold is such a great book. This rom-com story will have you wanting more. It will have you laughing and swooning throughout the book. I found myself fully invested in Rae and Chase’s relationship or lack thereof. The writer has a way of sucking us in and not letting go. I kept rolling my eyes when Rae wouldn’t budge. Rae is such a strong willed character that it makes for a hilarious story. When you read the great book you will know what I mean. The reader will feel the chemistry just coming off of the characters. But in another hand you will also feel the frustration of them being stubborn. I also loved previous characters coming into this book. Definitely a 5 star read and highly recommend. And let me just say that cover is everything!!!!! Who doesn’t like sweets especially Ice cream.

Best Served Cold by Emma Hart is a brand new romantic standalone that is sweet, sexy, all about second chances and revenge that is... Best Served Cold! Raelynn Fortune is struggling. her business is failing and it is all because of the competition next door. The competition that opened up right after she broke up with it's owner, Chase Aarons. He not only opened up the store but also stole ALL her ideas. That's okay though, she has a plan for revenge that will have her ice cream shop, aptly names Best Served Cold, that will out him out of business. Chase Aarons has been waiting for two years for Rae to speak to him. He opened his store next door just to evoke a reaction, yelling, fighting, cursing... anything! But she hasn't said a peep to him for TWO WHOLE YEARS! When the opportunity to help her with her renovations opens up the door for conversations with Rae he jumps at the opportunity. Now if he can just make her understand that what she sees as the ultimate betrayal, he meant as a way to open communication back up with her. Well-paced and well-written, sexy and sweet, real and emotional with wonderful secondary characters this was yet another fabulous book from one of my very favorite authors. Enjoy!

I am such a sucker for a good second chance love story, and this one had everything I look for. In Best Served Cold, Hart serves up a delicious mix of heat, hilarious banter, and a whole lot of swoon! I fell in love with Chase from the start, and while his efforts to win Raelynn back were all kinds of misguided, I found him to be charming and sweet. Raelynn is my kinda girl strong, independent, and funny. I could totally see myself being her friend. I could not get enough of this one. I read it in one sitting. And while I found myself still awake in the middle of the night I cannot bring myself to be sorry for the missed sleep. This one is by far one of my faves this year!

Raelynn and Chase have, wait for it, dueling ice cream shops. The reason? Because, sometimes, men just aren't that smart. Putting a girl out of business really isn't the way to her heart. For some reason, I'm guessing this isn't a surprise. It is to Chase. Well, sort of. Unicorns, kids, ice cream, family drama and sprinkles. Lots and lots of sprinkles...all make their way through this book that while it has heart, and some great romance, its also so fun it feels like it's been sprinkled with fairy dust. Or maybe a few edible stars. It's a treat to read, and I recommend it.

4 Delightful Stars Review by Nancy Late Night Reviewer Up All Night w/ Books Blog Charming, witty, and entertaining, Best Served Cold is another great book by Emma Hart. A second chance, enemies to lovers romance that had me laughing out loud more often than not. Raelynn is the best when it comes to making ice cream, but she is struggling to keep her family’s ice cream shop afloat. Her ex boyfriend, Chase, has not only opened up an ice cream shop next door to hers but did it with the ideas he stole from her. When Raelynn finally decides to do something about her struggling business, Chase comes knocking on her door with the help she desperately needs. What is she to do? She can’t get past the anger and resentment she still feels and wants to kick him to the curb, but she craves the closeness of the man she once loved. Working with him is just asking for trouble. Chase didn’t think things through when he opened shop next to Raelynn. He was hurt and heartbroken after she left him without giving him a reason. Although his intentions were to get closer to her, all his shop did was cause Raelynn to avoid him at all cost. When he notices she is renovating her shop, he sees an opening and jumps at the opportunity to help. Now, he is finally making some sort of progress and despite Raelynn’s resistance to his help, he is willing to do whatever it takes to get his girl back. Humorous and sweet, Best Served Cold, was a very enjoyable read! Raelynn wants revenge for Chase stealing her ideas. She is on a mission to run him out of business, until she starts spending time with him, then it hits her like a flight train - she had fallen in love with him for a reason, and time hasn’t changed the love they have for each other. All it took was a little closeness, and forgiveness to bring them together again.

It’s always interesting when I read a second chance romance where the hero and heroine break up and end up loathing one another for a variety of reasons with such reckless abandon that every interaction is a production - one that could easily turn into a three-ring circus or a WWE wrestling match, even if they’re merely fighting with words because readers are more than aware that scathing words are just as destructive and volatile as any physical encounter could be. It’s kind of a shitshow when Raelynn Fortune and Chase Aaron go from being lovers to archenemies, and the fact that Chase hits Raelynn where it hurts, her family’s ice cream business, makes things even worse between them because even though Rae made a rash decision in breaking up with Chase, his revenge is something that could not only hurt Rae, but it could actually cost her, her livelihood, something she’s unwilling to let happen, even if it means getting her own revenge on the man who just might still own her heart. The fact that readers get both Rae and Chase’s perspectives is key to understanding what’s going on inside their heads; these two have such big personalties their need to one up the other or at least get back at the other for something they did festers in their minds and forces them to unleash their own version of mayhem in extremely entertaining and outrageous ways. But when everything is said and done, these two have so much to sift through and the fact that they are one another’s competition when it comes to their businesses makes their past relationship and their present one heck of a sticky situation and not just because they serve ice cream. I have to say that each time Chase made a clueless comment or seemed oblivious to the true state of things between him and Rae, I didn’t know whether it made him cute and endearing or if it made him seem like a guy who just doesn’t ‘get it’ when it comes to relationships and issues that occur when both people aren’t on the same page. Both Chase and Rae have made plenty of mistakes in the two years it’s been since they broke up and Chase took it upon himself to work against Rae instead of with her, and while it wasn’t his plan to drift even further away from Rae, it’s clearly going to take some ingenuity on Chase’s part to make amends with the woman who he wants as his partner, not his adversary. Emma Hart continues to showcase her comedic prowess and her ability to create snarky heroines who know how to hold their own amidst the chaotic nature of their lives. The hijinks that occur in Best Served Cold due to Chase and Rae’s vendetta against one another and the choices they make are both outrageous and risky, but there’s also an emotional pull in this story as these two attempt to figure out where things went wrong between them and if there’s any hope for a reconciliation. Be ready for one heck of a wild ride with Rae and Chase, but it’s worth it when these two figure out that things might best be served hot rather than cold. 4.5 Poison Apples

In true Emma Hart fashion she gives us a priceless, entertaining, laugh out loud RomCom that is undeniably perfection! I devoured this hilarious book in less than 24 hours because I just couldn't put it down. Raelynn and Chase's story was filled with hurt, witty banter, laughable one-liners and rekindled how could you go wrong! This is unequivocally one of my favorite RomCom's this year!

Raelynn Fortune blames her handsome ex Chase for her failing ice cream store Best Served Cold. The no good jerk had stolen Rae's ideas and opened his very own ice cream store. Right next door. Which is why Rae decides to revamp her store. He'd had his revenge and now she'd get hers. Chase Aarons opened an ice cream store in a last ditch attempt to make the beautiful Rae talk to him after she'd dumped him for no good reason. Chase has never stopped loving Rae and decides to take his mother's advice to tell Rae the truth and find out whether she loves him back. What happens when Chase tells Rae "I love you Raelynn. I never stopped" and kisses her? Emma Hart delivers a funny, emotional and steamy second chance romance that will tug at your heart strings

This could be my new favorite book. Not my favorite book by Hart, which is already a hard thing to accomplish. But my favorite book ever! Rae and Chase are amazing. I could picture the details of the shop perfectly and absolutely needed a gallon of Rae's ice cream while I was reading this. I love Hart's sassy heroine with a totally believable storyline.

First off I need to say this is one of the cutest covers I have ever seen! Raelynn is so sassy and I love her humor. Chase and give right back as good as he gets from her and I loved the sarcastic banter between them. I really liked their unique story with their stores and their history. I understood both of their feelings and in different ways I understand their actions. I really liked seeing them journey from enemies to lovers...again! They have such chemistry and fit together so well it's hard to deny. I really felt for both of them and what was going on. Chase is really sweet inside and I love his heart. I wanted to root for Raelynn so much. She is in a really tough spot and she is so creative and works so hard to get what she wants. She is quite stubborn with Chase and I can't say I blame her. They have a really fun slow burn. I was so entertained with this book and just adored it!

Queen of ROMCOM at her best!!!! Rae; quirky, sassy, funny and a whole lot of hurt Chase; funny, sexy, an ex who wishes things could have been done differently two years ago This story was so ridiculously funny I can't find words to explain what I felt while reading their banter. I loved everything about it; the funny banter, even the tears I had while they were talking on the beach, I loved his determination to win her back and how she even if she was reluctant at the beginning, let him do that. :) I loved the side characters. I loved the whole fairy ice-cream. I’m quickly becoming addicted to Emma Hart's writing. She has become my one-click author with her ability to write ridiculously funny stories each time I pick up her books. And now if you’ll excuse me I need to see where I can buy some ice-cream.

Ice Cream and a new Emma Hart RomCom in one? Yes PLEASE!!!! I love Emma Hart's characters because the women are sassy and spunky and just awesome. They're a bit quirky - or a lot - and just really seem like real people to me. I can totally imagine being friends with them or meeting someone like them. Rae and her ice cream shop are a perfect combination. She has an uncanny ability to make amazing homemade ice cream from crazy combinations and they'll taste amazing. She just has to come up with a schtick for getting the ice cream business back from Chase. Chase is pretty stinking adorable, even if he isn't always the brightest bulb. All he wants is to talk to Rae, his ex, about 2 years ago. I hope we see more from these characters. Maybe Sophie needs her own story that Rae has to help with....

If you’re looking for a fun, light read that’s filled with lots of heart and will give you all the feels, then look no further. Best Served Cold is the perfect read to spend your day getting swept up in. Best Served Cold pulled me in from the very first page. If fact, it’s one of the most fun stories that I’ve read in a long time. With Emma Hart’s signature humor, fierce female lead and hilarious banter, this story is one that should not be missed. When I think of second chance romances, this is exactly the story I want. From a fun and entertaining story-line, to real romance and relateable characters; this book has it all. Best Served Cold is a story that will tug at your heart and keep you begging for more. Best Served Cold has left me with the biggest smile on my face. I mean, I just loved it. It’s the kind of story that will have you believing in love and second chances. Sure the characters have made some mistakes. Big ones in fact. But once you get into Chase & Raelynn’s story, you can’t help but root for these two to find their way back to one another. Their love is the kind that is worth fighting for. The kind that makes you do stupid things and makes you have the biggest regrets. It’s the kind of love that gives you hope and makes you never want to give up on. Best Served Cold was just the read I have been looking for. It’s light. It’s funny. It has just the right amount of steam. The characters are irresistible and will keep you entertained right until the very end. If you’re looking for a story that’s fun, got fight and some seriously great banter, look no further. Best Served Cold is waiting and ready to capture your heart and deliver all the feels.

Emma Hart is one of my all time favorite writers, few authors can make me laugh and cry within a few pages, but I know that this is something that I can expect from her books. Best Served Cold was no exception. I laughed, I cried… I even fumed at how silly Rae was at times, considering her misery was self-inflicted. But… I loved how Chase was so willing to fight for what they’d once had, and he still wanted it even though he’d been dumped by Rae without explanation. How he went about righting that wrong initially was without a doubt a dumbass move, but he managed to make amends in the end. It’s taken two years to get Rae talking to him since he made that stupid mistake and he’s not about to let her get away again. This time he’s going all in. What will happen when Rae finds out exactly why he bought the shop next to hers and made it into her dream ice-cream shop? Will she forgive him and let bygones be bygones or will she freeze him out completely? One-Click your copy today and find out if revenge really is a dish Best Served Cold.
