Well for starters this isnt a novel i dont think. It isn't a short story either because there is another story (not sure what to call because in my opinion this is not a book) that continues where this one left off. It is only 60 pages long. Maybe it is a serial or episode type of wtiting? If it is i do wish that was mentioned upfront. At the end the author asked to maybe mention a favorite chatacter. I just finished the book but i dont remember my favorite characters name. That should tell you something about this story in itself. My favorite character was the shifter. I gave this piece of writing 2 stars because it has the potential to be good but this section isn't even a complete introduction. I was amazed to see many more stories or books wtitten by this author. None had direct links to look them up though so i won't be searching for them. Maybe this is just 1 bad story from someone who has many good ones but i sure don't see that in this reading sample. On a good side note, it was a quick read so i don't have a lot of time wasted on it. I would not recommend it, but if you are really bored, it was free when i got it.
