Trapped in stone, tortured by grief…

This is their last chance. After nine loveless lives and nine horrible deaths, Kalyss must save Dreux from his stone prison—or pass without him into an empty eternity.

When two strangers violently enter her life, Kalyss's gift awakens—along with the memory of her past lives—and she must learn who she can trust in order to break the cycle of hatred and betrayal that has held them captive for centuries. For only then can she free Dreux from his prison of stone.

But will Kalyss be strong enough, now that the last chance has arrived—now that she must face not only the pain of this life, but of all her lives before?

About the Author

Jamie Leigh Hansen has loved romance novels since she was thirteen and was impatient for Nancy Drew and Tom Hardy to kiss. Since then, she loves seeing the varied ways relationships develop, what makes them stronger and what makes them fail. Now Jamie uses what she’s learned from books, classes, and thirteen years of marriage to her own personal hero to write stories that touch her heart and, hopefully yours as well.

Nine lifetimes, nine attempts, nine deaths, nine rebirths, nine failures if Kalyss fails this last time to rescue her beloved Dreux from the statue prison that holds him before her brother-in-law Kai murders her again, she will move on to eternal emptiness without him. However, with each reincarnation, she does not remember the past, her spouse or his brother until it has been too late while Dreux has seen each time the horror of his blood killing his love. --- This time two enigmatic strangers intrude on her cycle of life and death by gifting her some might say cursing her with the knowledge of her past lives. Still as she eludes her constant predator surviving his assault for the first time in their millennium contest, she still has to figure out how to break the curse that has left her dead nine times and Dreux locked away in a prison. --- This engaging romantic fantasy uses flashbacks to tell what happened in the past so that the audience obtains a strong tale in which through nine lifetimes hate has proven stronger than love. Readers will believe angels populate the earth all seeking redemption with some of them being evil. BETRAYED is a superb battle in a war between good and evil fought on a battlefield of undying love. --- Harriet Klausner

It's very rare that a book grabs me; it's very rare that I even finish a book. I read this in one sitting. It is my favorite romance novel to date. It's about true love- true love that lasts eternally. Searching lifetimes and lifetimes throughout history, for that one true soul mate. I've re-read this one multiple times. It's fantastic. :)

A relative newcomer to the paranormal romance arena, Jamie Leigh Hansen definitely has the talent of an author for your keeper shelf. Her abilities with character development, complexity in plot and pacing stand out from the pack. Kalyss, the heroine of this novel, her debut and the first in her series, struggles with the idea of loving again after an abusive relationship with her ex, Sam, on top of fighting an evil she barely understands.

And, if that isn¿t enough, she then meets Dreux, a relative stranger in the present but her husband and love of 1,000 years ago. Kalyss slowly learns/remembers this past through her gift of visions. A strong alpha male, he exhibits the understanding, patience and sensitivity we¿d all like to see in more men.

Hansen has a keen sense for descriptions and realistic dialogue. She moves easily between the past and present and her scenes ring true in both environments. The gripping narrative tugs you in from the firs page and will send you hunting for the sequel, Cursed (already available), as soon as you¿ve turned the last.

This novel has passion, betrayal, wit and fear, and each emotion so well done that the reader feels them along with the characters. While the overall theme pits good against evil in the hopes that good will prevail, Hansen¿s book has a unique twist with her characters stuck on a karmic wheel as they try once again to right an ancient wrong. I highly recommend this book to any lover of paranormal romance and look forward to reading the sequel myself.
