About the Author

Nicky Charles is an independent writer/publisher who became an author quite by accident. She always saw herself as a ‘reader not a writer’ and can thank—or blame, depending on the day—her friend/editor and fellow author, Jan Gordon, for the career she now finds herself immersed in. The tale goes something like this: In January of 2009, Nicky penned a fanfiction for an old TV series, “Scarecrow and Mrs. King”, and soon became ‘hooked’ on story-telling. She joined a fan-based group for the show and through there met Jan Gordon. It was an idle comment made by Jan during a review of Black Silk (Jan’s newly published book) that inspired Nicky to write her first original story. Over the course of the next two months, she hastily scribbled down a suspense-driven romance entitled Forever In Time and presented it to the world in August of 2009. Soon after, she wrote The Mating, a paranormal romance and followed it up with The Keeping and The Finding. The three stories formed a loose paranormal trilogy called The Law of the Lycans. Nicky continues to expand the Lycan series and has a long list of possible plots waiting in the wings. Nicky has recently retired from her day job and now hopes to concentrate more of her energy on her new passion of writing. When she writes, Nicky sees the story unfolding in her head like a movie and tries to include enough detail so that readers can ‘see’ the story just as she does. The sights, sounds, smells and sensations of a scene are almost as important to her as the actual plot. Creating main characters that are ‘real’ is also something she strives for. Nicky tries to make each character different, to give them an interesting backstory, to make their actions and feelings logical and to hopefully make the reader actually care what happens to the people in the story. Nicky lives in Canada and tries to stick to Canadian spelling and punctuation in her work, in support of her country. She is an avid supporter of animal shelters, nature conservancy, food banks and a variety of other charities. Currently she has two ‘inside’ cats and one official ‘outside’ cat though a number of strays seem to take up residence in her garden each year. When not writing, Nicky enjoys reading – though she often bemoans that she seldom has time for it any more. Her favourite authors are Elizabeth Peters, S.C. Stephen and Cherise Sinclair. She also enjoys spending time out in nature, gardening, taking day trips and eating dark chocolate. You can contact Nicky Charles at her website:

Another INCREDIBLE book in the Law of the Lycans series. I have a particular love for the series because The Mating was the first ebook I ever read and each book is better than the last. Nicky Charles never fails to make you feel for her characters... there is humor, heartache... I even got angry at them more than one time. She gives you a hero that is a rough, rugged and tortured soul and a heroine that has strength and the heart to accept him as he is. HIGHLY recommend and worth every penny!!!

The Road to Redemption by Nicky Charles Betrayed- Book Two Sam Harper is not your normal alpha, considering Sam is a female. And Kane Sinclair has decided that he wants to take over her pack. Not happening. This she-wolf has teeth and claws and plans on giving him a fight. She's not one to just roll over with her tail between her legs. Unless it's for her hunky new Beta. Damien Masterson is a rogue. We've met him in previous books. After losing his wife and child to the Purists, he was hell-bent on revenge. Even though it has been three years, Damien feels he must never forget his wife. Never love another. Easier said than done the longer he's around the spitfire alpha of the Chicago group. Kane and Elise Sinclair have some cameo's in this book as well. Their story was told in the first book of the Law of the Lycans Series, The Mating. Kane has been become an ambitious alpha. Will his need for power be stronger than the need for his wife and children? Another great addition to this series. Many other characters from previous books make appearances. And a few new characters who have stories to tell can be found lurking in the pages of this book. Nicky Charles is a master story teller when it comes to these alpha wolves and those they love.  **Sexual content and language

Excellent Read! If you have read Nicky's first 5 books you won't be disappointed with this one. If you haven't read them then what are you waiting for go and get them they are free. This is the first book that Nicky has charged any money for and if you ask me she should have charged for the first 5 too. If you want to pay her for her books she ask's you to donate to an animal shelter, in honor of her books. I donate to a dachshund rescue in support of Nicky and our dachshund that we adopted. In this book Nicky continues Damien's story. Damien believes he is a rogue so he takes jobs that portrays his lifestyle. He takes a job from Kane Sinclair and going undercover reporting on a wolf clan in Chicago. The pack leader is a woman which is basically unheard of in the Lycan world. He accidentally gets into the clan as an acting beta, during which he finds out that things are not as they appear. As the plot thickens he figures out more then he thought he would. He has started to have feelings for the pack leader, he fights the temptation because he is still in love with his mate. Who is no longer with him. (Read the series, Betrayed Book 1 is the beginning of Damien's story) With all the plots and sub plots in this story Nicky brings past characters in; Kane and Elise, Reno, Dante and has added several more... Read the The Law of the Lycan series you won't be Disappointed!

Betrayed: Book Two – The Road to Redemption By Nicky Charles I’ve been reading Nicky Charles’ books for a couple of years now. Picked up The Mating, The Finding, The Keeping initially because they were free. Who can resist a free book? But I was hooked after the first book! And once you’ve read one…you have to continue on and read the rest of the series. This is one of those series that you need to read from the start so that you don’t get confused with the characters and the whole thing makes sense! You’ll find out why as you continue to read the rest of the books! All six books now, including this latest one, have 5 stars from me! There’s action, suspense, romance, intrigue, subplots, angst and oh yeah……lots of alpha males to drool over! Betrayed: Book Two – The Road to Redemption is Damien’s story. As I said, you’ve got to read the previous books to understand what all Damien has gone through. Now he’s in Chicago….working as the Beta to the Chicago ‘Alpha’ who just happens to be a woman. Sam is no pushover Alpha though…she’s going to give Damien a run for his money! Lots of twists and turns and bad guys! I loved getting the little bits of the other characters from the previous books – Kane & Elise and Reno & Brandi. Though honestly I had to wonder about Kane & Elise there for a bit…! There are new characters in “Road” with lots of new twists and turns that you won’t see coming! Enough to keep you reading just one more page, and then just one more page, until you’re at the end of the book going….damn it’s done?! Can’t wait to see what Nicky comes up with next!

I was eagerly awaiting this latest book as I couldn't imagine where the series was going next. Having come to know and love all of the characters it was almost like waiting for that long awaited letter home from a loved one. Damien is at first glance cold, tough and uncaring. Hidden behind his cold exterior is a heart that has been crushed and love is something he feels is best left in the past. Will things change when a new woman comes on the scene? Enter Sam. Not your typical pretty girl but rather a woman who has things to prove to others seemingly without any apologies or excuses. Her life is hard and living isn't easy. Love is in short supply in her life but she knows her place so gives it little thought. Telling you more would rob you of an amazing reading experience. I will allow you to travel with them through darkness, need, history and longing. Picking up this book you will want to devour it in one reading. Perhaps you will even do as I did and not put the book down. Reading throughout the night with your emotions moving quickly and deeply. Tears one moment and laughing out loud to yourself the next. The emotional roller coaster consumes you and drags you ever deeper. A must read - no doubt - an easy five stars - Nicky Charles once again shows that she is one very talented writer who can bring characters to light, even when they prefer to hide in the darkness.

Another great read by Nicky Charles! I hope the wait for the next book isn't as long. Torture! I just can't find an author I like as much. I gave this book only 4 stars, but the author and series are well worth more! I will continue to read and purchase Nicky's books. In this book: 1- was reminded of why I didn't like Elise (selfish, childlike, whiney); 2-didn't quite get the alpha vibe from Sam; and 3-Damien lost a bit of his mysterious and bad boy sexy with all the tears he shed. I still find each and every char interesting and 'care' about them, which is what an awesome author does!

Very good. Was a little worried at first that I wasn't going to like Sam but she grew on me. Loved the revisiting old characters (Elise and Kane). Really enjoye their storyline too. Felt like I got two for one in this book. Can't wait for the next installment.

The story of Damien comes to a very satisfying conclusion as we follow his emotional struggle of learning to live again after 3 years of pain and heatbreak. He walks into Samantha "Sam" Harper's life as a favor to a friend and soon finds himself facing both his past and possible future. Trying to keep your cover from being blown and struggling with an attraction that shakes the resve he has to keep his beloved Beth's memory alive was not what he had exoected. Spying, a blackmail schene and secrets from the past threaten to keep Damien and Sam apart. This book is worth the read. New characters are brougbt to life and the possibilities of new stories can only make you clammer for more. Great job Nicky. This book was well worth the journey.

I recommend all Nicky Charles books. This is the 6th book in the Law of Lycan series. This isn't just another werewolf series. These characters draw you in and you laugh, cry and get frustrated with them. These are humans with their wolves as their best friends, conscience or sometimes even their enemy.
