(Pt.3) We rushed upstairs. Archie shut the door, and looked at us. "Girls, I finally chose between you." Me and Veronica looked at each other nervously. 'Uh-oh.' I thought. 'This means one of us walks away with a broken heart.' Archie got down on bended knee. "Omigosh Archie, you never said anything about proposing!" I said. Archie looked akward. "Yeah, well, we leave for college soon, so I had to decide." Archie looked at me. I thought, 'Omigosh! Did Archie choose me?' "Betty, I'm so sorry, but... I choose...Veronica. Veronica, will you marry me?" Archie asked her. All I could do was watch, trying to hold tears in. Veronica glanced at me, then at Archie. I knew what she was thinking. 'Friendship, or Archie?' Finally, she looked at me with a, sad, sorry look, and said, "Archie-kins, I would love to marry you! Yes, yes, yes!" That was all I could bear. I ran out of the room, crying. As I rushed down the stairs, I ran into Mr. and Mrs. Lodge. "Dear, what's wrong?" Mrs. Lodge asked me. The only words I could get out were, "Archie...Veronica...proposed...YES." After that, I just broke down crying. Mr. Lodge then asked, "Are you saying that Archie proposed to my only daughter without asking me, and she said yes?" I nodded. "Oh, the poor dear. Dearie,I'm so sorry. So sorry Betty." Mrs. Lodge said. Veronica and Archie came out of her room, holding hands, and looking at each other. "Veronica Stacy Lodge, Get over here NOW! Did you just say yes to Archie? 'Cause if you did, you just hurt your best friend so bad, that she's going awat right now, so that I can give her family time to pack, while I book them a three week vaction to Hawwii." Veronica looked sheepish. "Yeah, Daddy-kins, I said yes." "Mr. Lodge, it was nice if you to offer, but I leave for college soon, and I want to see everyone in Riverdale one more time. GOODBYE." I ran out to my car, and bumped into Reggie. "Whoa Betts, what's wrong?" He asked. I sobbed. "Archie propsed to Veronica, and she said yes." Reggie was shocked. "Oh, Betty, I'm sorry. So sorry. I know that you've been at him since kindergarten, and Veronica only in highschool." After that,we just sat for a while, holding hands and crying. Next book
