The third book from the historical cycle by Boris Akunin "History of the Russian State". The writer again offers his own inference concerning causes and effects of the great bulk of events of domestic history. He tries to make narration of commonly-known historical facts maximally objective, free of pressure of any ideological influences and as much authentic as possible. All the more so, because the third volume is dedicated to the all-important and debatable historic period – from the moment of liberation of Rus from the foreign Tartar rule and until Great Strife. Actually it was a new loss of independent statehood as a result of internal crisis and enemy invasion. It is up to the readers to judge to what extent Boris Akunin succeeded in doing this.
