Tracson Cordera and his cousin Billy were best friends. They'd built their cattle ranches side by side during the Gold Rush years in Montana Territory. One spring day Trac made a foolish bet with his head-strong cousin. Billy was killed, leaving his young wife Janie a widow. Trac's guilt and Janie's hatred of him changed everything. He couldn't stay and he couldn't go, but one thing he knew... he could not abide Janie's contempt.

There was one other secret he kept buried deep in his heart. She'd chosen Billy, but Trac had loved Janie from the moment he'd laid eyes on her when she was a young girl. And what could he do about that now?

Patricia Strefling, author of three published romance books, enjoys writing stories that inspire and encourage. She loves to travel and crochet and is currently working on three new novels. Mother of three grown sons and five grandsons, Patricia lives with her husband in Southwest Lower Michigan.

The story was entertaining, but the e-book set up was terrible. I stopped reading for the day and when I turned my nook on the next day it was back to page 1. There is no way to get to any chapters or pages other than page one on the content page. Had to keep turning the pages again to get to page 100. What a hassle.

The story between the characters is real and builds quickly and mirrors real life. Patricia wrote this book so well. Her grasp of a complicated love story was refreshing. She wasn't afraid to face a hard situation. I love an unexpected love story.
