Richard M. Clurman started in professional journalism as an editor of Commentary magazine and became editorial director of Long Island’s daily, Newsday. For more than twenty years he worked at Time Inc., first as writer-editor of Time’s press section, then as longtime chief of correspondents of the Time-Life News Service. He left Time Inc., as editorial vice president and chairman of Time-Life Broadcast. He later became chairman of the board of Columbia University Seminars on Media and Society, a program of the Graduate School of Journalism.
