About the Author

Dr. David Weibel is a psychologist who helps people overcome suffering and discover meaning, sometimes even at the same time. Upon learning to walk, he became sports-obsessed, which instilled a strong sense of 'us', a team view. Twenty years of exploring spiritual traditions helped him realize 'all of us', a stance from which he has created and tested compassion interventions, led groups, and engaged one-on-one. A brilliant professor who was beginning her career lured him from San Francisco to Baton Rouge.

This book is for anyone who looks for “self-improvement” without becoming self-absorbed. The author explains quality living through a series of clearly explained simple truths and straightforward paradoxes (e.g., understanding of self is found through global awareness of others). Each chapter takes centuries-old wisdom, philosophies, and practices, and translates them into everyday language. Practice exercises are provided throughout so that the reader can gain an experiential understanding of what is written. Audio exercises are provided on a separate web site as well. Throughout the pages, Weibel demonstrates the compassion of an involved therapist who is doing all that he can to help others to be all that they can be.
