I purchased this book directly from the author. I have read a lot of biographies by and/or about dancers. This is one of the best ballet biographies I have ever read. It is not a pretty story about girls in fluffy white tutus. It is a honest telling of a difficult path of an extremely talented black man who had a gift for ballet during a time that being a male dancer, black and gay were all things the public found difficult to accept. It is also the story of how true friends will always be there in your time of need. Thank you to Mel for having the courage to tell your story in such an un-glorified way. And thank you to Claudia for writing the story.
