"An inspiring tribute to female friendship and female courage!"--Kate Quinn, New York Times bestselling author of The Alice Network and The Huntress.
Three women are brought together in an enthralling story of friendship, heartbreak, and resilience. Set at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, this is an amazing debut novel.
Duty. Honor. Country. That’s West Point’s motto, and every cadet who passes through its stone gates vows to live it. But on the eve of 9/11, as Dani, Hannah and Avery face four grueling years ahead, they realize they’ll only survive if they do it together.
Everyone knows Dani is going places. With athletic talent and a brilliant mind, she navigates West Point’s predominantly male environment with wit and confidence, breaking stereotypes and embracing new friends.
Hannah’s grandfather, a legendary Army general, offers a stark warning about the dangers that lie ahead, but she moves forward anyway, letting faith guide her path. When she meets her soul mate at West Point, the future looks perfect, just as planned.
Wild child Avery moves fast and doesn’t mind breaking a few rules (and hearts) along the way. But she can’t outpace her self-doubt, and the harder she tries, the further it leads her down a treacherous path.
The world—of business, of love, and of war—awaits Dani, Hannah, and Avery beyond the gates of West Point. These three women know that what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger. But soon, that adage no longer rings true—for their future, or their friendship. As they’re pulled in different directions, will their hard-forged bond prevail or shatter?
Beyond the Point is a heartfelt look at how our closest friends can become our fiercest battle buddies. After all, the greatest battles we fight rarely require a uniform.

Loved it! Brought back many memories of college and dating cadets. Married Class of ‘68. Went to a small women’s college in Highland Falls. Our friendships still endure after almost 50 years!
Oh My Word! This was a book that will draw you in and won't let go until that heartbreaking but bittersweet ending. We have three women who join the military academy at West Point on the eve of 9/11 and this is Hannah's, Avery's & Dani's stories as they discover what they are and how far will they go for their country and each other. Dani has this bright basketball future ahead of her and is able to navigate West Point with her skills and sharp mind until a total accident changes everything and her course in this book that will lead to her to the UK. It's only when her friends need her while dealing with their own tragedy's that she makes the ultimate decision to finally forge life her own way while doing what she started out doing, so many years before. Avery is the total party girl that doesn't stop at West Point but an incident with a fellow recruit will change her life in a way that makes her totally reckless throughout her career in the Army. It's only when she starts seeing this new guy that her friends are warning her about, that he might be total bad news but she doesn't believe them. When a friend is killed overseas, is the moment that Avery realizes that something needs to change in her life with discovering the double life that her boyfriend has been living. Hannah grew up listening to her grandfather's stories of being in the Army and vowed to do the same even as he tries to talk her out of it. It's during West Point that she forms this friendship with Avery & Dani, even meeting the love of her life there. But nothing will prepare her or her friends what will happen when both Hannah and her husband are both deployed at the same time. Only one will make it home and it will set the stage for that ending that will leave everyone in tears. This was the most excellent fiction military book that I have read in a while. I'm not gonna say what will happen but once you discover who was killed, you will be crying for what was losted. But that heartbreaking but bittersweet ending will tie everything up in a way that will make you glad you got through those tough parts to that finale. Thank You to Claire Gibson for this fantastic debut novel that I so can't wait to see what is coming next from you! I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher!
Beautifully written novel on women in the military. I laughed and cried! This story about these three amazing women is something I wished I’d had sooner. My mom was deployed in spring 2006. This novel really made me look at a perspective I really didn’t have, and I can’t thank the author enough for opening my eyes. I just wish there was more to read! I want to follow these women and see where they go!
What a wonderfully heartwarming story of love, trials and tribulations and just awesome long time friendships between 3 gals who met at West Point and formed long time bonds with each other through thick and thin. This book was smile and cry worthy and I did both. Thank you so much to Goodreads and Author Claire Gibson for the win copy and opportunity to read this awesome book. I really enjoyed and loved all the history and lingo/terminology associated with this book and the fabulous "P.S. Insights, Interviews & mores" included at the end of the book And I do love a book that has a reading group discussion guide included.
I won a free copy of this book from goodreads.com For me, this novel was a peek into a world unknown to me. I had no idea what was required to get into West Point, nor the grueling schedules and physical demands placed upon the cadets that attend. And though West Point looms large in this novel, at the heart of the plot is the friendship formed between Dani, Hannah and Avery that bonds them together while at the Point and beyond graduation. As their lives take off in different directions, events test that bond. This is a portrayal of the kind of friendship where you're not just friends, you're family, and no crisis is ever endured alone. These 496 pages fly by quickly. A well crafted debut novel.
