The year 1989 was especially hectic for the family of Jenna and Tony Berringer as his San Diego law firm and her consulting business both grew dramatically, causing them to spend more time away from each other and their fast-growing teenagers. All is not the success they hoped they were working for as they discover that Martine and Carlos Geraldo, the source of funds for the sudden growth, are deeply involved in an underworld that Tony and Jenna would never choose to be a part of.
The discovery forces them to question what is really important to them, their values, and the real cost of their lifestyle in Del Mar, California. Tony knows that to make the soundest decisions they must get away from the source of the problems for a few days. Timing is perfect as the long Thanksgiving weekend coincides with their 20th Anniversary.
He surprises Jenna with a trip to a small, isolated resort, south of La Paz on the Sea of Cortez in Baja.
