Fresh sound from a couple of guys we already know from Dancing with the Stars. Catchy tunes that will stick in your head

I really enjoy listening to this CD while jogging and have lost 15 pounds. Its really uplifting and improves my mood each day. I am planning to buy this CD for each of my friends that are losing weight. There are 11 songs and each one is great. I don't have a favorite.

Mark Ballas & Derek Hough are best known for their talented dancing on Dancing With the Stars. I wasn't sure what to expect from them as musicians. I'm impressed that they wrote most of the songs on this album. The music is a catchy blend of pop & rock, good for background music or singing along. Decent harmonies, & some very nice instrumental backing, particularly on Closer, Longing For and Underwater. Most of the songs focus on love or love gone wrong. I enjoyed this album, & look forward to future efforts from Ballas/Hough as they continue to develop their own musical style.

This CD is ok. The music is a little too soft for me. I prefer music that is a little more upbeat. The CD is good for listening to on a long, relaxing train ride or airplane flight but not so great for a dance club or party.

You know this band from Dancing with the Stars...Mark Ballas was Season 6 Champion with Kristi Yamaguchi and is currently dancing with Olympic Gold Medalist Shawn Johnson...Derek Hough was last season's DWTS Champion paired with Brooke Burke and now they have a CD! While the CD isn't a unique sound...it emmulates the sound of the Boy Bands like NSYNC and Back Street Boys and then catches the flavors of the 80s Michael Jackson and Prince, it's a great album. My favorite song is "Longing" (Track 5)...it is a love ballad that captures the words every person in love wants to hear: "...wanna be the reason you breathe...dream, etc." It's romantic and a slower song in comparison to the other tracks on this album. American Idol fans might enjoy "Do It For You" (Track 8) as it was written by Idol Judge Kara DioGuardi. Track 4 has "Billie Jean" flavor. The beat was familiar but the words weren't as memorable. "Birthday" (Track 6) brought back memories of Prince with the beat. My least favorite track was "Fall (Track 7)...it was just a little too noisy. It's a diverse album that captures the best sounds of Boy Bands and 80s icons, Prince and Michael Jackson. Many of the tracks were written by Ballas and Hough and I admire that in an artist. This might be the album that hangs up those dancing shoes and puts them on the charts as musicians.

This is a solid effort by a new band. BHB has 2 members of the "Dancing with the Stars" crew which spreads their appeal beyond just music lovers. I would classify this as "feel good" music although the band does stretch itself on songs such as "Underwater" which seems to have a more emotional appeal. The album have songs which range from pop to rock and a little bit of electronic. Best songs include "Break Through", "Do It For You" (the first single) and "Fall".

The Ballas Hough Band self titled CD is okay. Several of the songs are catchy and work with the sounds of today. "Do You Love Me", "Devastated", "Closer", "Longing For", "Fall", "Do It For You", "Break Through" and "underwater" are all pretty good. Some of them sound like Maroon 5. Others are more catchy. One even has a hip-hop vibe to it. My favorite song by far is "Fall". "She Was the One" starts out really good, but then takes a turn towards a New Kids on the Block style. (Think Hangin' Tough) It ends up being one of the poorest songs on the CD. "Together Faraway" and "Birthday" sound like 80s pop music and not in any good way. It seems like they are trying out several musical styles on the same CD. This may be because they are trying to gauge which they are best at.or they have not really found themselves yet. Overall, I would give the CD 3 & ½ stars out of 5. Not too shabby for a debut album.

While I'm not usually a fan of pop music, I could really get into this album. The music is catchy and fun to listen. Plus most of the songs get you moving, as my daughter showed me the other day. As soon as the first song on the album, Do You Love Me, started to play, she started dancing and didn't stop til I turned the CD off. My favorite song on the album is Longing For. It's slower than the other songs and that is probably why I like it more.

I expected The Ballas Hough Band's first album to be like so many other celebrity-turned-singer albums, all fluff and no talent. I have to admit I was wrong! What I knew of them was from their appearances on Dancing With the Stars, so I wasn't expecting pop music! Their sound is Very boy-band, but in a good way. The Ballas Hough Band credits Michael Jackson, Prince, Queen, and Nirvana as their early inspirations and their influences can be heard throughout. Their single, "Do It For You" was co-written by the new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi - it's a pop song that reminds me of early Justin Timberlake & Britney Spears. "Devastated" is Maroon-5 flavored but throws in a little bit of Daughtry as well. Couldn't help but think it also would have fit in well in the 70s - a bit of a throwback - to the time of Queen. Mark Ballas began playing the guitar at the age of 4 and at the age of 12 began to write and perform his own music, playing guitar, drums and bass. With his best friend Derek Hough, he formed the band Almost Amy, now known as Ballas Hough Band. Other members of the band are Emily Grace - flute/sax/piano/vocals, Sam Marder - bass and Harry Sullivan - drums. Check em' out!!!

Anyone who is a fan of "Dancing with the Stars" knows Mark Ballas and Derek Hough, but, they may not know exactly how multi-talented these guys are. Not only are they champion dancers, but, they also have loved music since they were small. This love led to playing music as well as writing. I admire their commitment both to their music as well as to their friendship. Somehow, doing what you love with someone you are best friends with really adds to the chemistry and enhances the experience. That exuberance is pleasantly infectious. This is the type of cd that grows on you. I am not a huge pop music fan, but, the more I listen to the songs, the more I enjoy them. The mood is very uptempo and is great for dancing. I also found it's excellent for working out or for cleaning house. It really is high-energy and upbeat. Their sound, for me, is like a combination of George Michael and Wham, Michael Jackson, and Prince - with a hint of Marc Anthony thrown in. It is the type of cd that I feel would definitely appeal to a young crowd, but, that doesn't mean all ages can't enjoy it. It's feel-good music. The cd begins with "Do You Love Me" which is very current, head bopping music. "Devastated" is catchy, about the ups and downs of love. I really like the harmonies in this. My favorite of the cd is definitely "Underwater. For me, it's the most moving and has a slow sensual feel, almost dreamlike. Overall, BHB is the type of cd you want to crank up and play anytime you want to jam. BHB is like cotton candy - light, tasty, fun and leaves you smiling.

The Ballas Hough Band has a good, solid, upbeat sound for their debut album titled BHB. Anyone who's given ABC's hit show Dancing With the Stars even a passing glance knows the names Mark Ballas and Derek Hough. Growing up in musically inclined families heavily influenced their fresh sound very reminiscent of Maroon 5. The Ballas Hough Band credits a diverse range of influences -- from Michael Jackson to Prince, Queen, and even Nirvana. Their first single "Do It For You" is the perfect introduction to the band's pop sensibilities especially having been co-written by the new American Idol judge Kara DioGuardi. They are easy to listen to, my kids love them and so they are definitely added to our music repertoire. Give them a listen and you will find yourself singing along to "Do It For You" or "Closer."

Ok, I admit it, I had VERY low expectations for this CD. I assumed it was just another avenue for Ballas & Hough because of their popularity on Dancing With the Stars. I was wrong, they have real talent. Enjoy! Connie

I admit that I was pleasantly surprised with the Ballas Hough Band. Who knew that these awesome dancers could also sing? And they wrote many of the songs themselves! Many of their songs are about their own experiences with love and heartbreak (Fall, Devastated), but despite such emotional subjects, some of these songs just make you want to dance (Do You Love Me, Birthday). Their first single from the album, Do It For You, is one of my favorite tracks. It was co-written by new American Idol judge Kara Dioguardi, and it's just another one of those songs that I can't get out of my head. I also enjoy Together Faraway--a mellow song with a very catchy chorus, and Longing For--a sweet ballad. The CD is also an interactive CD--just pop it into your computer to go directly to various Ballas Hough Band sites, such as their Facebook and MySpace pages. I really enjoyed Ballas Hough Band's debut album, BHB, and I already can't wait for their sophomore album!

Ok...I have to admit that i'm a little skeptical of this group ,but definitely worth the money and time!Ballas Hough Band formerly known as Almost Amy is a pop rock band that was created in London, UK in 2005 by Mark Ballas. The band consists of Mark Ballas as the lead vocals and lead guitarist, Derek Hough as the lead vocals and guitarist, Harry Sullivan on the drums and Emily Grace on backup vocals, keyboard and piano. If the names Mark Ballas and Derek Hough sounds familiar to you than your right because they were on Dancing With The Stars winning the mirror trophy ball in two different seasons. Their sounds is similar to Maroon 5.After listening to the CD, my favorite is 7-Fall.Great music!Next Favorite, 'UnderWater'!

These boys (and girl) are extremely talented. You may know Derek Hough and Mark Ballas from the hit ABC TV show Dancing with the Stars where both Derek and Mark (who are professional ballroom dancers) led their celebrity dance partners to victory the past two seasons. While listening to this CD over and over and over again, I was reminded of many pop legends rhythmically, including Justin Timberlake, Maroon 5 and Michael Jackson. Vocally, I am reminded of New Kids on the Block in a few songs. Particularly, "Birthday" (Track 6) reminds me of NKB's "The Right Stuff". It also reminds me of a song from the eighties I can't quite put my finger on. I was extremely impressed by the notes these guys hit on "Fall" (Track 7). This album is filled with a mixture of slow and fast paced songs, including their first single "Do It for You" which I am absolutely gaga for. This song was one of the few not written by the band themselves. It was actually co-written by the new American Idol judge, Kira DioGuardi. All in all, I think this CD is a fantastic first attempt and can't wait to hear their sophomore album. The more upbeat songs are great for cleaning house to or dancing, of course. The only complaint I have is that the CD is much too short, with only 11 tracks totaling less than 40 minutes in length. These boys leave you wanting more. Don't be surprised if these boys' pictures are the next ones hanging in your teenage daughter's bedroom, right beside the Jonas Brothers. Physically, I prefer the less famous bass player. He's a cutie!

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of Ballas Hough Band's first album. When I first heard of it, I couldn't help it: my first thought was "here is another band just riding the wave of success and attention a program is getting." However, they are actually good! The whole album works as a album (always a plus for me - I hate a bunch of songs thrown together without rhyme or reason) and several songs play are excellent. I just love "Do it for you" and "Devastated" as well as "Longing for" and "Fall". Since I got the album, I play it all the time, especially when I'm in the kitchen - now that my husband knows the album, he comes in every so often and sweeps me up and starts dancing with me! Who said I can't dance with my own star? : )

BHB is a good cd. From the pop sounding "Do You Love Me", "Devastated" and "She was the One" to the gorgeous ballads, like "Breakthrough", "Longing For" and my favorite "Underwater", this cd has something for everyone, proving that Mark Ballas and Derek Hough can do more than dance. If you like Justine Timberlake and Maroon 5, check this disc out.

If you have heard the names Ballas Hough before, you are probably a fan of Dancing with the Stars. These two "stars" of the show collaborate on this fresh, new album. A little pop, a little dance, and a lot of fun, this album will want you to get up and dance!

To me, the name sounds like a big band from the 1940's, or a cruise ship band. But they are far from it! Don't let the name fool you! They sound like a pop or a top 40 band. Two of the band members are in the tv show "Dancing With the Stars, and Derek Hough is the brother of Julianne Hough, another "Dancing with the Stars" dancer, and a very talented singer in her own right. They definitely are a couple of very musically talented siblings! I can see a number of these songs hitting the top 40 charts. The vocals sound, to me, like Justin Timberlake. Who I do not like, but I like these singers. And you can dance to the whole cd! This is one of the few cd's lately that it is actually worth downloading the whole cd, not just one or two songs. My favorite song is Fall, which has an edge to it. Another song, Break Through, is right up there also! These two songs are going in my Ipod!

Ok, so I checked out the Ballas Hough Band and I must say I was surprised, in a good way. I think the band of 5 have a good future ahead of them. First off they have great background music, the instrumental part is 10 times better then the lyrics themselves. The lyrics are a little popish to me and don't seem to fit their style, think boy band sound...but the background music is more modern with a dance sound. I would also like to see the girl sign more with the two lead singers. Out of the CD, I recommend the first song, "Do you love Me". If you are wanting to try out some new music I would recommend these guys to you. I look forward to seeing them grow into their own. Heather

Seeing this band perform at The Grove was extremely exciting. Being able to take their music home with me helps me relive the event time and again. This unique band is a joy to listen to. Great original songs. Highly recommended.

I have to be honest and say that I ended up liking this CD a LOT more than I thought. This is not my usual style of music, and when I threw the CD in, my first impression was that it was too poppy/boybandish for my taste. However, I was quickly proven wrong. I played this CD the first time through while cleaning, and within a song or two, I found myself dancing to it. Since then, I've listened to it countless times, and I really love it! I am definitely reminded of Maroon 5. Overall, it's an upbeat musically sound album, and I would recommend everyone give it a chance--even if it's outside of your usual style of music.

If you're a fan of Mark Ballas and Derek Hough from "Dancing With the Stars," you'll be pleasantly surprised to find they can sing as well as they can dance. Their new CD, "BHB" showcases their talent with sounds ranging from funky ("Do You Love Me") to smooth ("Longing For") and everything in between. And with clean lyrics, you don't have to worry about playing the songs in front of your kids (in fact, they'll probably be singing right along with you).

Although this group is not my normal music choice, the album will certainly allure the pre-teen/young teen crowd. Nearly every song is up-tempo and the vocals vary between songs which keeps it interesting and entertaining. Unlike many pop groups, you can actually hear these vocals and the voices sound really great together. Nearly every song has a dance beat to it, enough that my 2.5 year old was dancing around the house while the CD played.

I had only heard the single Do It For You, before I got the CD. When I saw them perform it, I was surprised at how well they could sing, but I was concerned that the CD would be a bit "boy band" for my taste. I wasn't interested in anything that would be directed at the Jonas Brothers/Miley Cyrus set. I was in for a pleasant surprise. These young men can actually sing, and while this is definitely a pop/rock album, it has songs that really get into your head. I found it a CD that I can play when I want that rock beat, but want to feel good when I'm listening. The CD opens with Do You Love Me, and it was a good choice for an opener. The vocals are mature, the beat makes you want to get up and dance. My personal favorites on the album are Longing For, a beautiful ballad which features Emily Grace on background vocals and Underwater. Actually, there isn't a bad song on this CD. Anyone who thinks this album is just for young girls would be wrong. The nice thing is that it is clean enough for young teens, but this middle-aged mom loved it too. If I had to compare them to anyone, I would say Maroon 5 would be close. These are not simply guys who have some dancing fame trying to use it for their own gain. These are talented musicians, and I think we will be hearing more from them.
