My daughter received this book as a gift not long ago. I was pleased that all of the people in the interior illustrations had proper tan skin colors, by my approval of the thing ended there. Because the book is "for girls", most people are wearing pink and the illustrations are saturated with glitter. Why everything made for little girls must be pink and covered with glitter, I will never understand. The worst part, though, were the "poems" (I use this term loosely) that pass as Bible stories. Even forgiving the fact that even the most basic events in the stories that they're trying to tell are left out, they're still awful: the rhyme and meter are so off that they're nearly impossible to read aloud. I've had high school students coming in with English as their second language and no background in poetry aside from reading greeting cards hand me pieces that flowed and rhymed better. If you're looking for a nice book of Bible stories to give a little girl, I'd only recommend this one if the child is both very young and you have no intention of reading it aloud to her. Ever. Glitter notwithstanding.
