Gr 4 Up Choron's spinoff from the popular adult Book of Lists (Morrow, 1977) by Wallechinsky and Wallace will be entertaining and informative for a wide variety of readers. Ranging from nonsense (16 popcorn flavors; 7 ways to repel Dracula) to the serious (7 hotlines to call if you're in trouble; how to fight censorship), the lists are clearly written and often of merit. Happily a large section deals with books, including lists of Newbery Award winners, kids' favorites and celebrity favorites. Lots of common-sense social advice is also given, such as, ``being comfortable with a disabled friend'' and ``things to do to be more popular'' (including stop brown-nosing the teacher and take showers regularly). A potentially popular browsing item. Eva Elisabeth Von Ancken, Nassau Spackenkill School Library, Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
