Although I read a few of the books in the Whales and Tails series-this is the first one I read in the Zoe Donovan Series. It is actually #5 in this series--but there was no problem reading and enjoying it. It can be read as a stand alone. Zoe owns and operates an animal rescue center--baby bear cubs, wounded birds--well you get the picture. She also takes in the excess cats and dogs from the local shelter so they will not be euthanized--I love her already!! She took in something like 60 bunnies and found them all homes----not an easy task when there is just you and one other person working with you. Plus she is helping with the community play one of her friends is putting on. The mayor (also the town banker) insists on dressing up like Jack Frost--tights and all-- The town's banker (mayor) is a real miserable character--he likes nothing better then to foreclose on loans! So when he was found murdered---there were an awful lot of suspects!! But--he was killed by an Easter Bunny? Well that is who Zoe saw running away from the murder scene. How in the world were they going to figure this out? This is a light and breezy read which you will probably finish in one sitting. You will be astonished who the killer is and who helped him!!

Just ok for me. The mystery was super lite.

In this installment of the Zoe Donovan cozy mystery series, the town is putting on an Easter play. Unfortunately, the big bad town banker, decides he wants to play Jack Frost, complete with a costume with tights. When Zoe goes to the bank after hours to drop off some papers for her friend, Ellie, she sees the Easter Bunny running from the back of the bank and the banker shot dead in the vault. I liked the interactions between Zoe and her very pregnant mother in this book. Although Zoe was raised by her father, now that her mother is back in town, things are progressing nicely in their relationship. I like that everyone is settling down into their lives and starting to grow-up. They all have good jobs and are successful, but they don't have it together as I think a 25 year old should. I do recommend this series to people who want a light cozy.

I enjoyed this book. The characters are likeable, and their interacting relationships are believable. The love interest Zak...who wouldn't love him? The mystery was definitely interesting, the Easter bunny committing murder? The only drawback I had is that it seemed the murder investigation seemed to get a little lost with all the births that were happening, but the story was so interesting that it wasn't that big a deal. I will definitely continue on with this series.

Kathy Daley writes such endearing characters and cozy environments that even when there is murder involved you still feel comfortable and welcomed.  The way she writes takes you away to a calmer and simpler world and offers a relaxing getaway from your own reality. I enjoyed getting to know Zoe Donovan and her circle of friends. Some may have messy relationship pasts and unclear future paths but there is such a sense of community in these books that you wish they were all your personal friends.  Ms Daley's description of scenes is powerful. My favorite was when Zoe and her boyfriend went to meet the Adonis-like son of a handsome movie star. We all think we could compose ourselves and treat a celebrity the same as we would any other person we are meeting for the first time. The way Zoe's reaction is written comes close to truth and made me smile. I was gifted this book and now find myself interested in reading this series from the beginning.

Spring is in the air and the Easter Bunny is on the loose! When Zoe sees the Easter Bunny leaving the scene of a crime she thinks she really needs to get some more sleep! She has been working hard running her new shelter and hasn't had much down time and with the Easter celebration getting ready to kick off she is working even harder! When Porter Blakely the bank president turns up dead nobody is really surprised not only was he running shady deals he was trying to ruin the Easter celebration by trying to portray Jack Frost and not in a good way! Zoe jumps in feet first to help solve this mystery before someone she knows becomes the number one suspect! This series just keeps getting better I can't wait to see what happens next!
