Billy Thomson, a drug user in the employ of Glasgow gangster Maxie McLean, had aspirations far beyond his capability, but trying to rip off Maxie for a large sum of money set in motion a series of events that begun with the sudden, untimely death of Billy.
The aftermath of Billy's demise had repercussions on a number of people, not least the uniformed officer who was pursuing Billy at the time of his death.
In time, DC Willie McKay, a downtrodden, deeply unhappy man becomes embroiled in the inquiry, as does Billy's loving grandmother and his drug addicted girlfriend, Angie.
The frantic search for the stolen money by the sadistic Maxie and his henchmen sets the scene for the mayhem that follows the passing of the rather insignificant Billy Thomson.
Set mainly in the Glasgow area, the book exhibit's a knowledge of police procedures as the tension is cranked up to the final, explosive outcome.
