Overview

When neurology and cardiology nurse Leah M. Reasor gave birth to dangerously premature twins, she soon realized that her life would never be the same. She did not, however, predict that the next two years would not belong to her, but to the 'round-the-clock protection and support of her babies. Caring for these at-risk preemies meant more than sleepless nights, non-stop feedings, and diaper changes; it meant an intensity of physical, emotional, and spiritual dedication that tests one to the limit. In BirthRights, Reasor bares the drama of the daily struggles and challenges for the babies, medical staff, and her family, and what they gained in the process. Whether readers are parents or relatives of premature infants, members of a medical team engaged in preemie care, special education teachers or Social Services personnel, this book delivers the level of emotional support so lacking in our technology-focused society, and does so with a hefty dose of compassion, humor, and hope.
