Gives a perspective of someone who not only cares, but also someone who is stepping out in faith to change the views in life that causes fear to rule one’s life. Becoming, is an optimistic view of the pessimistic reflection in the mirror the world promises. In other words if you truly understand what is revealed, it is time to rise above the reflection in the mirror and take a stance in who you really are. One who will not live in fear of no man!

This title and cover alone should immediately draw you to get this novel. Just in case that’s not enough the contributors included should do it. You would definitely be missing out if you do not grab this book. Black Girls Rock is a novel that I personally knew immediately I had to read. This is prime time for black excellence being revealed and I am here for it!! I do not know of a book on the shelves now that showcases not only black excellence but the excellence of black women!! The essays and speeches by these exceptional women resonated with me. This title shows that the issues of racism and sexism reach across the money gap and affect women of color no matter where they may fall on the social ladder. I'll be honest there were a few that I truly hadn't heard of and has made for some great research topics both for myself and my daughters. Our March celebration of women’s history month is going to be lit. Black Girls Rock is well put together and the sections the book is divided into is done superbly. Overall I highly recommend this title and would venture to say it is a must-have for black girls everywhere! ***I received an advanced copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review***
