About the Author
La'Kendrick "Tank" Thompson is a 36 year old writer and author of the memoir titled, "Black in America: The Life and Times of Tank Thompson (Volume 1)." He was born and raised in what was once deemed the worst place to live in the United States, Kankakee Illinois. Despite growing up in the harshest environment, Thompson's mother instilled in him to always remain goal oriented. He discovered his passion for writing in 2011 while attending Kankakee Community College. Thompson transferred from KCC in 2013, to Governor's State University where he earned a bachelor's degree in English. His journey as professional writer began while attending GSU as a blogger for Chicago Now at "Daddy's World."
