Meet the Author

Jan Gordon grew up in London, England, and emigrated to Israel in her early twenties. After many years of working as a secretary in various media companies, both in the U.K. and Israel, she took time off to raise her two sons. In 2006, after many years of reading fanfiction for an old American TV series, Scarecrow & Mrs. King, she decided to pick up her pen, or rather her keyboard, and wrote her first story, a collaboration with another fanfiction writer, Amy F. (TwoPhantoms1), and the writing partnership of The Yank and The Brit was born. Three years later Jan answered a writing challenge on a fan site for that same TV show and wrote a short original piece and posted it to the group. The characters in that story wouldn’t leave her alone and eventually she gave in and wrote their story. That story was “Black Silk”, a paranormal romance about were panthers. Jan posted “Black Silk” on the fan site and it received such a good reception from the other members, she branched out and posted it on other sites, including Smashwords. One of the members of the fan site, another fanfiction writer, Charlie, made a comment in her review of the shifter story that sparked an idea, and in reply Jan told her she should use that concept in a story because it sounded fantastic. That ‘idea’ became “Forever In Time” by, the newly named, Nicky Charles. After Nicky’s first two books, Jan started working with her as editor and neither has looked back since. Jan has since written “Life In The Shadows”, a paranormal romance anthology and a prequel, of sorts, to “Black Silk”. Nicky Charles collaborated with Jan on one of the stories in “Life In The Shadows” which combined her wolves and Jan’s panthers. They enjoyed the endeavour so much that they decided to repeat the experience – the result was “In The Cards”. Jan Gordon now lives in Jerusalem, Israel, with her husband and two adult sons. She and her husband often travel to North America and the U.K. to see family and friends. Although Jan both writes and edits paranormal romance, she rarely reads that genre for pleasure. Since discovering author Georgette Heyer as a young teen, her passion for reading Regency romance has never dimmed. Apart from reading, which she does whenever time allows, her other favourite pastimes are cooking and doing Pilates.

This book is relatively short, but it is entertaining. I don't usually delve in the romance genre, but most of the free books offered are romance so they seem to be unavoidable. That said, I think this book is worth the read. The two main characters are fairly well developed given the length of the book. The plot wasn't entirely original and the antagonist was pretty flat and a bit unrealistic in my opinion. The focus was on the main characters, which left little for the rest of the story. The author could have spent more time elaborating on surroundings or even creating a more realistic villain. Regardless of the lack of style in the crevices of the story, I still enjoyed reading this book. It's by far one of the better books that are offered for free and would be worth a read on a rainy day.

I wasn't sure what to expect from this book, since the last free ebook I read on vampires was horrible. Knowing the author typically writes fan fiction, I thought this book would be mediocre at best. I was pleasantly surprised. I've become a fan of the supernatural genre over the past few years, and this book was not disappointing. Granted, the story is quite simple - a budding relationship between two people - but the writing is captivating and keeps the reader interested from beginning to end.

This book was really good. There was only one flaw in it. Which is really cool all consitering. I really enjoyed it. I also liked that fact that it is a whole book. I am sad that there isn't any other books done so far that I could find by this author.

I found it to be a wonderful Paranormal Romance short story. I would gladly recommend it to anyone who is into short stories and sexy shifters. I like reading them while waiting for my favorite series releases. I always find I have so many question in the end left unanswered. Hence the short stories. Lol If not they would be novels or series. So, I say give it a try!

This is not my normal genre. If this is your genre, I would suggest this book. I found it a decent read. The concept was at first a little hard for me, but I was able to get into it. It was a quick read. It was not at all predictable.

I do wish there was more to it this story. I am not much of a romance reader, but there was enough action to keep me interested. Maybe she will read our reviews and opt to give us more of Vic and Cole =)

This story was good. The chareters and plot kept my interest throughout the story line. I have been interested in paranormal romances for many years now and the places they take me as a reader is wonderful. This story did so wonderfully. I felt it could be truely beleivable that were's really exsist the way the story unfolded. My only wish was it was a longer story.

This was a cute short story. There was no great depth to the Characters or story line, but if you just want a simple, romantic, easy read for a lazy afternoon, this is a Free book that I would recommend. I love the Sci-Fi and Paranomial Genres, which this book ties into well. Just not a very long or indepth story but worth the time it took to read it.

Just when you've given up on finding Mr. Right, he shows up in the most unexpected way! This was my first time reading Jan Gordon. She did a reasonable job with the pacing and the focus of the characters. Had the right amount of secondary characters and several steamy, sex scenes to keep it interesting. I wasn't too thrilled initially with the 1st person point of view, but it worked. Too bad it wasn't a longer story. Maybe there will be a sequel. If you like reading about were's (werewolves, vampires etc) I'm betting you will also enjoy this one. Particularly liked the twist that came out in the story as they began to get accquainted. (I'm not giving it away here!)

This was an interesting book. It is a pretty easy read, not too difficult or intellectually stimulating, but entertaining all the same. It is about a book store owner who loves paranormal romances and finds that her life becomes one. It is a bit cheesy and not very suspenseful at all - even though it tries to be. But still, it's a nice book. I got it for free and if it is still free, I would recommend downloading it. It's a good easy book that doesn't take much effort. I got it because I like cats and I'm glad I downloaded it.

This was a really nice story for this genre. If you like this genre then you will like this. It's an easy rainy day read. I would have liked to have seen the characters fleshed out a little more but for a free novel this was really good. It has the makings of a pretty good series and I will be looking forward to seeing more from this author.

Wonderful characters, totally love Cole and Mouse! Kept me reading t the end and wanting for the next book. Never heard of a were-panther, but Ms. Gordon's style makes you believe. Thanks for an excellent story!

This is the first story I have read that dealt with morphing characters, if you do not count Stephanie Meyers' Twilight series. I enjoyed reading about the characters and their story line. The romance between the cat / man and the bookstore owner is believable and you want things to go well for them. I like the way the author describes the interaction of these two and lets us glimpse in to their lives with their descriptions of their living spaces and actions. This is a light summer or rainy day read and I would recommend it for any one that wants to escape in to a book for a few hours.

I thought this book was a good read. I think the story could have been developed over a little more time. Hope this writer keeps it up, could possibly make a good series.

Not everyone likes shapeshifter stories, but I do. The only negative thing I can say is, the story could have been longer. It drew me in and I didn't want it to end so soon.

I really enjoyed this book. Was skeptical at first because it was free and only 99 pages but turned out to be one of the best books I've read. Hope she has another werepanther romance.

This is a fantastic story that I think has series potential. Many 'shifter' stories are completely unbelievable, but Jan Gordon writes with a background story- in other words, an explanation for how everything works. The hero is sweet and caring, yet macho enough that you don't think 'pansy'. The heroine is a small town bookstore owner has some self esteem issues (who doesn't?) but begins to overcome them as a result of meeting and falling in love with the hero. I would recommend this to anyone who likes a little paranormal, or just likes really good romance. I really hope Jan continues this as a series!

This book had some fun twists; even when you saw them coming they could still surprise you. Read it all in one night as I usually do with a fun to read book with romance, mystery and books involved. The black cat didn't hurt this book either in my point of view.

This book definetly hit the spot for an afternoon to escape. The characters are warm and charming and makes you wish that everyone could be part man and part panther. It starts off somewhat slow, but from page six on, it will capture your attention and send you off into a world of sci-fi, romance, thriller, and escapism. I couldn't put this book down and read it in one sitting. Read and you will know why.
