A cute story.

After reading 99% Faking It, I loved Haley and Jane. Blackmail Boyfriend has been on my TBR for a while and I didn't make the connection between these books until a couple chapters into this one. And man, am I glad I got to know these characters better!! I loved Haley so much. She's smart, caring, and not afraid to stick up for herself. I loved how she never backed down and wouldn't take mistreatment from anyone. Bryce, on the other hand, would do better if he could find his inner Haley. When he finally stood up for himself to his family's expectations, I gave a little cheer for him. I loved this lead in to the other series!!

I was really excited to read his book. However as I continued to read I realized that it wasn’t what I thought it was. I loved the plot of the book and the writing. However I hated the ending. I mean it just ends. There are so many questions that I have that were not answered. For Bryce he was a douche, there is no other words for him. He seemed to be a little OCD and because of his father wanted everything to be perfect. I was hoping to see a change in him that would make him deserve Haley. The one and only act of kindness wasn’t a life changer. I feel like he had potential to be great when we got a glimpse of him becoming different, but that’s all it was, a glimpse. I loved Haley. She was kind and strong and did what she wanted. She know what she wanted in life and you could feel it through the writing. The way the author told her side of the story is the only reason why I am giving this book 3 stars. I loved the way she was with the animals and with Jane. The main reason why I enjoyed this book was because of Jane and Nathan the Best Friends. They were a blast to read about. They made me laugh every time they were in the scene. I would love to read a book about them as a couple. However I don’t think I will buy another book. I would check it out of the library but since this one never ended I don’t feel like I could spend the money. I just needed an epilogue or maybe another chapter that would give us a clue as to what happens next.

I want to thank Entangled Publishing for providing me with a copy of this book to read and give an honest review. Receiving this book for free has in no way altered my opinion or review. 2.5 stars rounded to three because I can't do 1/2 stars here. Once again, Entangled has given me a book that is full of fun romance, swoon worthy moments, and great learning experiences for both characters. It's no surprise I enjoyed this just as much as all the other Entangled books I've read over the past few months! Haley has spent her life in the shadow of her over the top twin brothers. No matter what she does, they chase aways boys who might want to date her. So when she's presented with an opportunity to pretend date one of the most swoon worthy boys in school, she jumps at the chance. Trying to thwart a rumor that has been started about her by said swoon worthy boy, she convinces Bryce he must pretend to be her boyfriend in order to save her reputation. It's only fair, after all. Bryce sees no choice but the accept Haley's blackmail. After all, it's only a few weeks and then he can go back to being who he was: the guy who attracts all the girls but never gets himself into anything that requires commitment. He's seen what that can do and he doesn't want to be a part of it. Of course he finds himself more attracted to Haley than he thought he would be, which complicates things for sure. Bryce is king of making bad choices and needs to be knocked down a few pegs. I love the banter between Bryce and Haley. Haley refuses to take anything from Bryce, she gives as good as he does when it comes to being a ball of fire. It was probably my favorite part of this book. And the writing style was easy to follow. Cannon truly captures how I remember thinking as a teen. The chemistry between the characters slowly builds until, BAM, they have to give in. Despite their rocky start, Bryce and Haley become a good fit, complimenting each other and bringing out the best of both. I also loved the best friends angel in this book. If you're looking for a cute romance with a bit of teen angst and fun characters, this is the book for you!

I received a copy of blackmail boyfriend for and honest review. I absolutely loved this book. Hailey is an honor student, and the baby sister of two very over protective brothers. Hailey is trying to find a way to have a boyfriend, with out her brothers scaring them off. Hailey is also stands up for her self. Between hailey and her best friend jane i laughed so hard i cryed. I would definitely recommend reading this its hilarious. I have also read burning in the flames from Chris Cannon. I also loved them as well.

That was super cute! I wasn't expecting to enjoy this book as much as I did. The sweet little story with not much in terms of conflict just minor hiccups, nothing really earth shattering or defining. But what the story did have was a lot of laughs. This was by far one of the cutest and funniest books I've read in a while. The interactions between each character were very realistic. The chemistry between Haley and Blake was a great. They're teasing and their banter, even their pestering was cute and flirty and really funny. But by far I think I enjoyed Jane's character the most. She was a great best friend and honest - maybe to honest. It was really great to see her get her happily ever after. One of the best things about this story, was how the girls were portrayed. They aren't weak, they aren't fake and they most definitely aren't stupid. Sure they have your typical moments of weakness but all in all they're pretty strong and fierce female characters. I love their ability to snark back to any character that tries to bring them down. If you're looking for a cute, fun read with strong girls and an adorable romance then this is the book for you. The characters will worm their way into your heart, make you laugh and genuinely hope for the best for them. The characters are well developed and their chemistry believable. This is definitely a light romance, in the sense that there isn't any huge drama aside from a crazy ex-girlfriend, a domineering father and a healthy dose of wacky and opinionated family members and animals. “I received a free ARC copy of the book from the author/publisher via NetGalley for my honest opinion. I was in no way compensated for this review and all opinions are expressly my own”

This book was honestly so much fun to read. There wasn't much depth. It was a light and very entertaining book. I was looking for a contemporary read that was lighthearted and this book was just the what the doctor prescribed. The plot can be very predictable but there are still some things that surprise you. The concept is a little different, I don't think I've read a book before where the main character blackmailed someone to be their significant other. It did make for a very funny book. It had me laughing all throughout. I think that I can attribute that to Chris Cannon's writing! It was easy, breezy, and light. The characters were very interesting and different. What made this hilarious was that Haley and Bryce are complete polar opposites. So you can imagine all the arguments that they get into. Ever with all the fighting, you never feel that frustration and I liked that. Haley was a great character, very strong and sweet (I mean ... minus the blackmailing). Bryce was your kind-of-typical spoiled brat coming from rich parents but dealing with the high standards that his father places on him. I simply adored Haley's overprotective twin older brothers! They were so much fun and even though they were overprotective, you can see all the love there and it made me wish I had an older brother. My only problem was that it can get a little repetitive but not annoyingly so. It also started rather quickly, no real introduction and I felt that it ended too abruptly. Other than that, it was a great, light, fun, and easy read! I'd recommend!
Mother-Chaos More than 1 year ago If you’re looking for a simple teen angst story with the possibility of love, then this is definitely for you. The plot was a little predictable but with a novel like this it’s hard not to be. High school novels like this one are bound to end in one way, it’s just the journey to get there that’s important. The romance in this novel was very back and forth, but I expected that considering it’s about a girl blackmailing a guy to be her boyfriend. Regardless of that it was a fun and easy read, although it was a little cliché. When you have characters who are super rich with characters who are not then you run into the problem of whether money plays a role in the relationship or the plot. This novel has a bit of that problem because Bryce comes from money whereas Haley does not. While this doesn’t exactly affect the relationship, it does affect the plot. Regardless of the money, however, this book relies on the natural progression of a fake relationship to a real one. The money is just something I tend to have issues with, mostly because the plot seemed to be steered by it. Haley was a fun little main character. She has an attitude and some spunk which makes her stick out. I really liked the little details like the fact that she works at an animal shelter. The love for animals really gave her a definite kind of character. All in all I really liked her character, although she had moments where she annoyed me because she’s rather stubborn. I liked her family dynamic as well. I understand what it’s like to have brothers, even though mine are mostly younger, so it was fun seeing her two brothers be over-protective. And her dad reminded me of my dad a little. The thing I liked most about Bryce was the way in which he developed through the book. It was interesting seeing things from his point of view every so often. I liked being able to see things from both of their sides. I also liked the friendship he had with Nathan, although sometimes it felt like he and Nathan were acting rather girlish with their friendship. That may just be me though. The cover is cute but I feel like it doesn’t really fit the characters like it should. I do love the font for the title though. All in all it wasn’t a bad book. It was a nice fun little read when you’re in the mood for some angst and romance. There were many moments when I would stop and laugh out loud because of something one of them would say. While I had a few issues with it, I’m glad I was able to get the chance to read it.

My Thoughts: I love to divert myself with a little bit of young adult every now and again, and the Entangled Crush line is where I turn to for some sweet, innocent romances. I picked up this one the other day and kept on reading because it was so cute. Bryce and Haley are two people who are stuck in a very bad position--Bryce because he hooked up with a girl who has a boyfriend and Haley because the girl he hooked up with shares her first name. Since he doesn't want to get beaten up by an angry boyfriend, he pretends it was her instead of the other girl. Haley isn't too thrilled about the school thinking this is true, so she blackmails him into being her boyfriend temporarily so that people won't think she's that kind of girl. As they spend time together in this fake relationship, they get to know the other person and care for them. When that caring grows into something more, will they be able to be honest about how they really feel? Blackmail Boyfriend was a cute little tale with a sweet ending. I loved how the story incorporated Haley working at an animal shelter and how animals were featured throughout. Also, I enjoy how the families aren't perfect, and how the children choose to handle the things they learn and have to deal with when it comes to issues that arise. It burns me up the way Bryce's family treated his life, trying to take his choices away from him, but he steps up to be a man. It was great. Really enjoyed this story by Chris Cannon! My Rating: Very Good

This review is going to be pretty short since this read really didn't really wow me in any way. It was alright but I'm finding it hard to have something to say about it which, in its own way, is exactly the problem. I was on and off with the main character, Haley. Sometimes I thought she was a great, quirky character with a loving personality - she loves animals and does her best to help people out, but a lot of the time Haley came off really demanding. I think she was 'supposed' to come across as a strong female character that isn't afraid to ask for what she wants and work for it, but it was too strong and if someone behaved that way in real life you can guarantee they would push everyone around them away. I felt the same way about Bryce but instead of being demanding, he was the opposite. Bryce couldn't seem to make any decisions and everything worked out in his way anyway. It was frustrating. To me, he was a poor character. The ending also drove me crazy. I literally thought that 50 pages or so were missing. It was just way too easy - there was no fight involved and it made the characters look really weak. Aside from all that though, there was a cute romance going. I like how Bryce changed throughout the story and I liked the secondary characters that helped him through it.

Haley Patterson and Bryce Colton did not run in the same circles. When she came to school and heard a rumor they hooked up over the weekend - she saw red! Then she found out what really happened, and used it for her own gain. There was another Haley who had slept with him over the weekend and then got back together with her huge fighter boyfriend. Bryce was not sure what to do. Haley was nothing like the girls he had gone out with in the past. He was not sure this was a good thing - but he is leaning more towards yes it is. His best friend likes her best friend and double dating isn't so bad. Haley knew she would never get out of the rut she was in if she did not come up with a plan. Her brothers are so protective of her - she will never date in this lifetime. Bryce has a reason to step up and give her brothers lip to keep his secret safe. She can teach them she will date and the next guy, the real guy, can come along and all will be well. Nothing ever goes as planned. Bryce and Haley start kissing and holding hands and things seem on the surface to be going better than ever. Then why do they always have a huge bunch of steps backward every time they make strides forward? Haley is not sure she can keep doing this. An amazing story that is as sweet as it is sassy. I love the characters and how they interacted with one another. The humor and genuine feelings were so superb, there was no chance that I could put this down until I got the scoop! ***This ARC copy was given by and its publisher for review purposes only.

From the cute cover to the story plot, I absolutely had a great time reading Blackmail Boyfriend. It was a book that became a page-turner to me that I could not stop reading it until the very end. In this particular story, we follow Haley Patterson a high school junior who has always been her brothers' “litter sister,” and that causes a major problem for her since she wants to have fun and go out with guys. But having older brothers who could literally crush anyone that steps closer to her prevents guys from asking her out. When she arrives to school one day, she finds out that the whole school is talking about her and her night with golden boy Bryce Colton, which was all a lie and she intended on finding out why Bryce was spreading rumors about her. When Bryce tells her that he did indeed slept with a Haley, and it wasn't her. When they see that the real Haley has a boyfriend, and if he finds out that Bryce slept with her he was going to be in trouble, and that is when Haley P. sees the opportunity to blackmail her crush into pretending to be her boyfriend for a few weeks or she is going to tell Haley's boyfriend that Bryce slept with his girlfriend. Bryce has no other choice but to accept, and that is when the story really begins. As the two start to fake dating in front of everyone, soon things start to get real, and the both will have to learn to accept their feelings for each other at the end. What I enjoyed about the book was how we get to see the characters develop. Haley has always being the baby of the family and her overprotective brothers make things difficult for her when she tries to date. Her love for animals and down to earth personality is what intrigues Bryce. His life in particular has always been about what he has and who his family is that he is not aware of what is happening around him. He is in his little world and he likes to have everything at his beck-and-call. By blackmailing him, Haley brings Bryce out of his comfort zone and soon they are enjoying spending time with each other. This book is definitely about two total opposites coming together as they learn to overcome obstacles in their lives. Although this book is all about Bryce and Haley, we do get to read about their friends' relationship, and the impact that it makes in their relationship. Overall, the book is well-written and funny. The ending could have been better with an epilogue, but it's still a really good book that I highly recommend reading. :) ***ARC provided by Entangled Publishing in exchange for an honest review.***

As many of you know, I'm a huge fan of all of Entangled Crush's books. They're just so adorable and fun to read! They're literally perfect for any fan of young adult fiction. Blackmail Boyfriend was absolutely no exception. The story follows a girl named Haley Patterson, who finds out that there's a rumor going around about her sleeping with the most popular guy in school. She can't believe it, especially because he's been her crush for the longest time. She meets up with him and asks him if he started it, and finds that there's another girl named Haley who happened to sleep with him but she gave him her name. Turns out the other Haley actually has a boyfriend, so Haley Patterson blackmails Bryce (the popular guy) into dating her for a few weeks so that she doesn't come off as a girl who sleeps around, because she doesn't. I honestly found this book to be so great! I loved the relationship between Bryce and Haley. Haley was just so down to earth while Bryce was very much into his money and his belief that money brings happiness, since that's the way he was raised with his parents. He's pretty positive that his father only married his mother because her family was so wealthy. Haley definitely cracked him down and made him realize that there's more to life than money. She even brings him to the local shelter where she volunteers all the time. She even has some animals from there at her house. The side characters were wonderful too. I loved Jane and Nathan. Jane was a pretty funny best friend and I did like that she was always there for Haley. Her little infatuation with Nathan at the beginning was funny too. Nathan is Bryce's best friend, who owns the country club that Haley's father always goes to in order to mow the lawn. It's just so wonderful that they all ended up becoming friends. If you're looking for a fun, quick read, I highly suggest checking out Blackmail Boyfriend!

This book was really cute but it is by no means one of my favorite contemporary books. I feel like the writing lacked a lot at times and some of the characters really bothered me. But if you are just looking for a fun contemporary read and you can ignore those things then this is a very good book for you. It's a fun story that's for sure. I just think it lacked some.

Light and fluffy. Probably the two words that can best describe Blackmail Boyfriend by Chris Cannon. This is one of those books you read when you just want to forget about the world around you, but you don’t want anything serious. This book will help you Zen out for a bit and let you lose yourself for a couple of hours. Blackmail Boyfriend is told from the perspective of two different characters: Haley and Bryce. Haley is your plain Jane, girl next door character. Her parents are middle class and she has to earn what she has got with her own money. She doesn’t even own a cell phone. Bryce is the rich pretty boy jock. He is super popular and can get any girl he wants. One Monday Jane comes to school to rumors about how she and Bryce hooked up at a party. She isn’t a party goer, so you can bet she was a bit confused by this. Actually, Bryce was too because she didn’t look anything like the Haley Patterson he had hooked up with. It turns out that Bryce had hooked up with the other Haley, but that Haley had lied about her last name. The lie turned out to be a good thing for Bryce because otherwise he would have met the fist of that girls’ boyfriend. What was not so lucky for Bryce was that the Haley Patterson that he did not hook up with (but now everyone thought he did) did not want her reputation ruined. She agreed to not tell people that it wasn’t she that he had hooked up with as long as Bryce pretended to be her boyfriend for 3 weeks. Thus the title of the book Blackmail Boyfriend. From there on we follow along with our two main characters as they get to know each other and try to figure out their strange non-relationship. It is quite a little ride that these two go on for the 3 weeks that they agreed upon. I liked that this book was told from the perspective of both a female and a male character. It let you see into the psyche of each side of this non-relationship. I think Cannon did a great job portraying the two sexes. I had no problem being able to tell the characters apart and Cannon did both of them justice. She developed both of them very well. Also, I loved Cannon’s cupcake analogy (you will understand what I mean once you read this book). It thought it was really cute and I am glad she kept it up through the majority of the story. It was a great little addition to the story. If it was taken out, it wouldn’t really hurt the story at all, but it definitely gives it something. I also really think the cupcake thing helped create and form Haley’s best friend Jane’s character and Jane is quite possibly my favorite character in the whole story! You may be wondering since this is a romance book marketed to the young adult crowd about the existence of sex and if it is too steamy, you shouldn’t worry too much. Sex is kind of discussed a bit, but none of the characters actually have any (that we know of at least) during the course of the story. Pretty much there is just kissing and maybe a little bit of making out. Nothing really goes farther than that. It is pretty mild and well done. In the end I felt as though I had just read a teen romance movie. By no means is this a bad thing! I like it when books read this way. It means I was pulled in and really enjoying myself. I definitely recommend this one! Review is based on an eARC provided by the publisher via Netgalley. Find more of my reviews here:

Adorable! That's the word I kept thinking while reading this one. From cupcakes to puppy dogs, this story was adorable. It's a light, enjoyable read that you can devour in an afternoon. Characters are huge deal for me. If I don't like them, then I'm not gonna like the book, Sometimes I like one but not the other and that's okay. But it's the best when I love both characters. Such in the case this time. Bryce comes from money, not as much money as his father would like but money. They belong to the country club and appearances have been drilled into his head since he could talk. Things work a certain way. It's no wonder he developed an OCD personality that like his things alphabetized and at at right angles - just so adorable. He's not as much of a player as the blurb may suggest but he does have a cray cray ex-girlfriend that he'd like to cut loose. So the mutually beneficial fake boyfriend duty works for him. What he wasn't counting on was falling for the quirky honor student who rescues dogs and is smart enough to see through his games. Things are just better around Haley but she's not his normal type and he so likes things as they normally are. It's a battle he fights as he gets closer to a real boyfriend and less of a fake one. Haley is cute but not the tall curvy girl that Bryce usually goes for. She's well aware of it too. But she's willing to pretend so that other boys will see her a dateable. Her older twin brother tend to chase them all away but Bryce is confident enough to deal with that. Yes, this could work. But she doesn't count on getting used to his touch. real kisses over a dog bath, and most of all, finding out who the real Bryce is and liking him. His hot and cold confuses her as he tries to work through what he's used to verse what he likes. It's just adorable. Told from alternating POVs, this story is a fast read. The writing is comfortable and enjoyable. It's a great mixing of two worlds kinda story and I thoroughly enjoyed it. If you like nice clean YA that just makes you happy at the end of the book, then this is a good one to pick up.

How to get a boyfriend via blackmail? Talk to Haley Patterson. She’s an honor student, totally invisible and just like the rest of the girl population in school, she has a massive crush on the rich, golden boy Bryce Colton. Now rumor has it that she hooked up with him. To save him (from her brothers and the cage-fighting boyfriend of the girl he really hooked up with) and save her (reputation), she blackmailed him into being his boyfriend for a month. She wanted other guys to see she’s datable too despite her overprotective and crazy brothers. Bryce Colton is a hot neat-freak. His Class-A personality made him want his life to be in order, and made him want to control every aspect, with Haley: his life just went over the edge. He didn’t know what to do with his new boyfriend. It was a good thing though, she might help him take his ex off his back. He finds out that being her boyfriend was quite interesting, meeting two three-legged dogs, her crazy brothers, her father who mows the grass at the country club, her mother who seemed to hate him, and well, even Haley herself: she was different and difficult at times. They have undeniable chemistry despite the difference in their personality. They’re good together, and when they kiss, the world stops. They had set backs, they had some hurdles. They bring the best and worse in each other. I wanted to remind Haley that Bryce is her FAKE boyfriend. He wasn’t her REAL boyfriend, and sometimes she needs to be reminded of it. Her best friend was living her happy-ever-after, and she felt left out, and it made her yearn for something. Will their fake relationship be something real? Blackmail Boyfriend is short, sweet and fun. It can make you laugh, swoon, and yes, there were frustrating-I-want-to-pull-my-hair-out-of-my-scalp moments. But it entertained me and kept me awake the whole night, once I started this one, I didn’t have the heart to put it down.
