Ms. Ferris once again treats us to a well-plotted story. This is one of her best. The characters may be familiar from earlier novels, but the plot is a little different - a practitioner of Wicca, a microbrewery, an alcoholic, and a Halloween celebration are combined to create a story that is unlike the others in this series. Ms. Ferris integrates these various topics in such a way that the plot advances seamlessly. Needlecraft terms never get in the way of the plot. An excellent read!

In Blackwork, Betsy Devonshire takes on a strange and twisted plot, involving alledged witchcraft. Did the local Wiccan put a spell on Ryan McMurphy or are there more mundane forces at work? It takes Betsy awhile, what with needlecraft and a store to run, until the plot is laid bare.

Although I am not a knitter/handiwork type person I do enjoy the series and the details that are in the story does not confuse or take away from the story.

I enjoyed this book very much. Reminded me of the mysteries I read years ago. It was very interesting. Held my attention until the end. I plan on purchasing more of her books.

I have been reading this series for a few years, and I watch for new books. This one did not disappoint me. The same "core" characters are here, we progressed in some relationships and formed new ones, while not killing off too many of the local residents. This is a quick read, perhaps one afternoon or long evening. I enjoyed my visit with my old book friends. I won't become a knitter, but it is interesting to read about knitting styles & types. I look forward to the next installment of this series. Thanks for the entertainment.

I wait impatiently for the next Betsy Devonshire tale to be available, and I have never been disappointed. Start with Crewel World and follow the series. Many happy hours!
