The first book in the series was good and I had high hopes for the second book. Not enough character development or story line. Not sure that I would buy the 3rd book

For short compositions, the story is fully delivered - character development, captivating plot, intriguing world set. Look forward to the final installment!

Blades Of Illusion is book two in the Crown Service series by Terah Edun. This book starts off right where Blades of Magic ends. So, their is no time wasted. We jump right back into the war and trying to discover what really happened to Sara Fairchild’s father. Sara is a great strong female who grows a little with the help of her friend Ezekiel. He’s slipped under her defenses and has found a spot in her life. She needs Ezekiel! She knows how to fight, to do battle, to be a leader, but interacting with people outside of fighting, well she’s not good with this, so that’s where he comes in. I liked the character growth Sara goes through. We get a little more on her past, which is nice. As for why this war started and what happened to her father, well we still don’t know. We are searching, but not much happens on this front. Their is a lot of action and battles, which are well done, but at times the story was a bit slow. I will say I still have a lot of questions then answered, but that’s ok. It gives me a reason to keep reading and see what happens next. Just like the first book this one ends quickly and at a point where I wish it hadn’t. The ending felt like it ended in the middle of a chapter at a spot I wouldn’t have expected it to end, especially when things where heating up with action. This is my only issue with Blades Of Illusion, and well the series so far, is where it ends. Other then that I throughly enjoyed this installment and can’t wait to read on. The author has created a rich world with fantastic characters. Blades Of Illusion is a light easy read full of action and suspense. Rated: 3.5 Stars

I enjoyed the first book enough to pay for the second.. but I'm extremely disappointed that I did. The whole story line has good potential but this second book did nothing to further the plot. It's like the author didn't know what to do with this book, so they just made the main character get into trouble with her superiors the whole story and that's it. Nothing about this book makes me want to buy the next which is disappointing because I liked the first book and I like the story overall. The whole point of the main character joining the army was to find out why her father died. She did nothing to find that out the whole book! Nothing to further that one goal. Basically nothing happened the entire book.

Terah did an amazing job yet again! I have to say watching Sara grow into herself and the character development that has taken place in this book was awesome to read. Sara is learning how to be a better friend and person, especially thanks to to Ezekiel. Sara may be the main character but personally I like Ezekiel better. :) I think that he is the perfect balance for Sara and in most cases the only voice of reason that she will listen to. This book takes place exactly where Blades of Magic left off and the excitement doesn't stop. Can't wait for the next one to see what happens!

I absolutely LOVED this book! Sara Fairchild deals some real damage and learns a very important lesson along the way in her mission to discover the truth behind what happened with her father, causing his execution.

Back from the gruesome killing fields the Kade left of the mercenary battalion, Sara lets her anger at the Captain bloom into a beating to be taught a lesson. The problem child of the battalion, she endures the worst jobs given by the commander to realize her ultimate goal to clear her father's name. The ultimate betrayal comes when she and 13 others are sent on a mission of mercy. Solid action, bloody battles, alliances made. Sara matures as she struggles to get her mouth and anger under control. Cliffhanger.

Terah has done it again! Blades of Illusion was a great read. Once I picked the book up I couldn’t put it down. Sara continued to grow and develop as a character and is learning just how important friendship really is. And, while continuing to grow emotionally, Sara continues to dole out her own version of justice as she searches for answers to what really happened to her father. I cannot wait for the next book in the series to come out!

Wow wow wow!! Thank you Terah Edun! Been waiting for this book for a very long time! Read the first book Blades of Magic in a collection of fantasy authors about 3 or 4 years ago, as soon as I finished it (and it was the first book in the collection) I searched for the next book in the series as I loved it so much! Unfortunately the next one hadn’t been written yet so I read another series that Terah Edun had written (Courtlight - which is also amazing) to keep me going until the next book in the series was written. Finally I get chosen to be an ARC and I can truthfully and honestly say that this book did not disappoint. Sara Fairchild is the heroine that is tough, fierce and bound by honour searching for the truth behind her Fathers death with her wonderfully witty and intelligent friend Ezekiel who we see come more into his own and show that he’s not just the brains but can hold his own in a fight. The only problem with this book is that it’s left on another cliffhanger and i’m desperate to find out what happens to Sara and her band of allies? Not giving any spoilers away but Kades, band of allies, a villainous captain and a sun mage? What happens next????? Please don’t let it be too long before the next one as Sara is a heroine I can truly relate to and stand behind, as long as her magic doesn’t take over and send her Beserk!
