Each book just keeps getting better. This series is definitely one of my favorite. I really enjoy the romance between Sebastian and Victoria because its like a passion unwanted because of trust, not because of a persons inner demon or something of that nature. I don't understand why this series is not as popular as others from the penguin books because these books are really damn good and deserve a little more attention. I recommend this series if you like the night huntress books and others of my recommendations.

I love this series. In this latest book, The Bleeding Dusk, Victoria is still in Rome, recovering from the death of her Aunt and she is now the leader of the city's vampires hunters. Victoria is still hunting and slaying vampires when she finds that a demon is among them and is allied with the vampires. She reunites with Sebastian for help, still not sure if she can trust him or not, after all he is the Grandson of a Vampire. Max returns, another Vampire Slayer, but he is still in thrall to Lilith, the vampire queen. With the help of Max, as well as Sebastian, Victoria attempts to destroy the demons plot. There are a lot of surprises in this book. Victoria starts to fall under the thrall of Sebastian's Grandfather, Victoria desires Sebastian. This book moves along at a fast pace and is action packed, the ending keeps you on the edge of your seat. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

This book gets better and better. I dont honestly know why they would place this book in romance because it is not the conventional romance novel more like science fiction or horror. The only qualm I have with the book is that the girl protagonist doesnt do much in this book and Max keeps on being the hero but the poor guy gets no play. Another good thing about the novel is that it makes you like both Max and Sebastian as leading men.

One year has past since the events in RISES THE NIGHT. Victoria Gardella Grantworth de Lacy still mourns her loss, but feels it is past time to move on although she will always cherish her late husband, Lord Rockley. Her plan is to return to her duties as a venator and as the leader of Rome¿s vampire populace.----------- Victoria learns that the demon Akvan plans to cross the plains via the Door of the Alchemists in order to steal the confidential secrets they hide Akvan believes he will find what he needs there and become too powerful to stop. Meanwhile Victoria¿s venator peer Maximilian Pesaro wants to help her, but he belongs to Lilith. To defeat Akvan, Victoria needs help from Sebastian Vioget and his vampiric grandfather Beauregard, but none of the trio trusts any of the others and Maximilian, whom she feels she needs to trust, remains a wild card as he must do Lilith¿s bidding.--------------- The vampiric triangle of Victoria, Sebastian and Max is complex and filled with depth as desire and distrust attract and detract each of them. Victoria struggles with her feelings especially can she depend on either male when she confronts Akvan. Fans of Colleen Gleason's Gardella Vampire Chronicles will want to sink their teeth into this complex entertaining chapter of the saga.--------------- Harriet Klausner

As the third book in the series it is difficult to summarize the plot without spoilers so I will keep it brief. Victoria (and the rest of the gang) are on the trail of a demon who has evil plans and Beauregard has also become more of a threat making Sebastian torn between his loyalties.Honestly, I found this entry in the series quite a bit slower than the first two. The pacing of the first half was slow and the romance was a bit much for me. Victoria's swaying between yearning and anger does become tiresome after a while. Plus, with all the romance we were rewarded with only one, rather lame, sex scene. Halfway through, the pace does pick up and the danger and intrigue take over the plot. It was at this point I felt the book more worthy of the first two installments. And if there is anything Colleen Gleason can do: it is to deliver a totally unexpected and devastating ending. The last several chapters I just couldn't read fast enough. I wanted to turn the pages faster than I could read them which made the book a worthwhile read and of course, I must now read the next installment which will be published next month, August, (I believe) to find out what happens next.

This book was another awesome read. Action, suspence, twists, love triangle in the making, original...What else can I say, I loved it. Can't wait to read the next in the series. (These should be read in order.)

In this third book in the series, Victoria has become the Illa Gardella after the death of her Aunt Eustacia. She's got a lot to learn, and we meet more members of the Venator organization in Rome and find out more about how they operate. I liked getting more details of the organization as the series goes along. Max has come back, but he faces a terrible choice about how he can best serve the Venators. Sebastian is also never far away, and his relationship with Victoria heats up. Both men are doing their best to protect her, but Victoria continues to take charge and kick butt. Although things don't always work out as she planned. The demon Akvan has risen and is working with some of the vampires to open the door to an alchemist's laboratory. It may contain the secret for Akvan to come into his full power, but it also may contain other secrets that vampires, demons, and Venators would kill to know. There is a lot of blook-sucking in this book, which kind of turns me off. I prefer it when they can avoid being bitten altogether! As with any middle book in a series, there is a lot left hanging. I'm looking forward to the rest of the series to get those questions answered.
