Overview

Gillian Flynn says, "Karin Slaughter is simply one of the best thriller writers working today."

A small Georgia town erupts in panic when a young college professor is found brutally mutilated in the local diner. But it's only when town pediatrician and coroner Sara Linton does the autopsy that the full extent of the killer's twisted work becomes clear.

Sara's ex-husband, police chief Jeffrey Tolliver, leads the investigation—a trail of terror that grows increasingly macabre when another local woman is found crucified a few days later. But he's got more than a sadistic serial killer on his hands, for the county's sole female detective, Lena Adams—the first victim's sister—want to serve her own justice.

But it is Sara who holds the key to finding the killer. A secret from her past could unmask the brilliantly malevolent psychopath .. or mean her death.

I just stumbled on this author and this book has a great start and kept me on edge. Then it slowed and made me irritated that Sara could be such a stupid smart person. Now the end happened so fast and a little unbelievable. Overall not a bad read. It was good enough that I'll try the next in the series.

Facebook had a great storyline and you were left guessing until the very end. However, the murders were so gross and explicit that it was almost like you didn't want to continue reading. I would have given it 5 stars but I do not like the f word and for the grossness of the murders. Kathy weekly

Blindsighted was an enjoyable thriller focusing on a maniacal serial killer and efforts to solve unspeakable crimes. The setting is Grant County, Georgia, and the Southern flavor is readily apparent. The book is graphically 'hard core' and the plot moves rapidly to its conclusion. There are several protagonists, some likeable others not, but characterizations are somewhat roughly hewn: time is spent on ancillary characters and less on major ones. At the end of the novel, there were many unanswered questions. All in all, it was a fast paced, quick moving novel and Slaughter displays wonderful command of the written language. Certain scenes are over the top in description, but I was able to survive and will eventually read the next book in the series. All in all, a good read, but I figured out the identity of the perpetrator, early on

J: This is a very good story, although dark and disturbing. There are just a few slow spots but mostly full of suspense. There is really not much romance for obvious reasons, and less is more to me. There are, however, lots of parts that were difficult to read and I did skipped over some of them. But still a good story and a great beginning to a series.

Move over Patricia Cornwell and Michael Connelly because Karin Slaughter knows how to keep your interest in a story. The main characters are Sara Linton, a pediatrician/coroner and her ex-husband Jeffery Tolliver, the chief of police so you have both medical and detective drama – the best of both worlds! Professionally interacting with your ex-husband plus being a doctor in a small town is quite a balancing act for Sara and the author doesn’t gloss over the problems. Thank you Karin for a good read and I am glad there are at least 6 more Sara Linton novels in the series.

Blindsighted begins in a small Georgia town when a college professor is found murdered. WOW! The level of violence and depravity of the villain filled me with anger and disgust, yet the writing drew me in…deeper and deeper. I love Sara, but her character is predictable, whereas Lena captivated me with her independence, strength and inability to let her defenses down and let people close. Sara is a pediatrician and and coroner. I love the “Bones” aspect, there is room for more than one. The flawed, realistic characters are ones I want to meet…again and again. The mystery and suspense builds, making it hard to put the book down… Blindsighted is the first book of her new The Grant County Thriller Series. I look forward to reading many more.

I read this book over ten years ago, so how can it be a NEW release? A re-release, maybe! This is a very good book, excellent story line and character insights and quirks that make them seem like people that one would know. Descriptions of the town and the crimes that are being comitted are disturbingly all too real...real enough to make one's startle reflex kick into overdrive.
