This is the seventh book in an eight book series, where each book develops from events in the earlier novels - so I really recommend reading them in sequence. The battle between the different factions continues throughout this novel with intriguing discoveries and long held secrets helping explain and adding further depth to prior events and attitudes. I am trying not to reveal any spoilers here, so please forgive my vagueness! The exiled Angel, Jesca - or as she is better known at this stage, Jessie - is still determined to make things right after discovering that her Angel tears that were used to help heal the man she loves, Eden Reece and his little niece, Honey, could have life threatening side effects. The characters are diverse, with very different motivations and attitudes. The dystopian society is hierarchical but not all power is held by those who are responsible enough to wield it for the good of all. The scenarios are brilliantly portrayed, bringing them vividly to life in the imagination of the reader. With a war threatening and only 48 hours to sort everything out, you can guarantee this will be a fast paced, action packed adventure that will keep you turning the pages to discover how all can be resolved. Just remember, however, that this is the seventh book, there's another to come, so whilst many things are sorted out there's more to come - I can't wait to read it! Thanks to the author and publisher for gifting me an ARC of this novel via NetGalley. I have chosen to read and review it and this reflects my honest opinion.
