Received Blood for the Living from Goodreads first read giveaway program. A very likeable book with down to earth characters and a good mix of intrigue, suspense and romance. I really liked the blending of futuristic and modern times. Looking forward to reading the sequel!

Vampires have been around since Bram Stoker published his classics. They've also been around in myth and superstition for times before that. This book gives a fresh view on vampirism and the post-modern times. It explains some of the immortality issues and hunger in a different way, but manages to keep it mysterious at the same time. I would highly recommend this read to anyone who enjoys vampire literature.

I received this delightful book as a present recently and found it to be light and enjoyable sci-fi novel. What excited me the most was how the author made vampires to be almost as weak as everyday humans because of a genetic "defect." Those with the defect are ostracized but the daring protagonist discovers the secret of vampirism by drinking blood. The story proceeds along two time-lines to explain the birth and decline of vampire society. An elder vampire revisits memories of his centuries-old love for a woman lost. At the same time, he has to deal with vampire society politics in the present because he is unhappy with how the younger leaders have ruined his legacy. Overall, I thought the book was refreshing and I couldn't stop reading once I picked it up. If you want to read something unique, then you should definitely read this book.

I read blood for the living and thorougly enjoyed it. "kate nevermore" can wind a story like the best of them, can't wait for the sequel. Hopefully readers won't have to wait too long. I downloaded the book and will be able to read it again and again.

I'm a grandma but I really enjoyed this scifi book. The vampire part was not overwhelmingly graphic, but it added a good flavor to the excitement & romance. This was a page turner & a light read that I'd recommend to ANYBODY. I can't wait for the sequel!
