Blood Moon Rising by Mark Dawson

Ten years ago, Beatrix Rose headed an off-the-books hit squad to carry out the dirty work of the British government. When she discovered that the commander of the squad was corrupt, he sent five of his assassins to rub her out. But they failed. Bad mistake.

There were six names on Beatrix’s Kill List. Two have been accounted for, and she has number three in her sights. But Bryan Duffy is in Iraq, surrounded by mercenaries, and there’s no easy way for Beatrix to get to him and no easy way to get out.

Strap in for Book Two of Mark Dawson’s heart-stopping, bestselling Beatrix Rose trilogy.

I think Beatrix Rose is a badass. I'm not sure who would win between her and Lisbeth (Larsson's MC) if they had a battle of wits, but Beatrix is a no nonsense, weapon ready, survivor. In Book 2, she manages to kill 2 more of those on her hit list against impossible odds with the help of Pope and Number 12. It was nice to read that she's not as ruthless and cold hearted as she'd like us to think she is. Her emotions not being in check when having Mysha's best interest in mind gave her character more depth. As did her infrequent time spent with Isabella, her daughter. All in all, a great suspenseful page turner.
