Overview

"There must always be a God of Wealth..."

Former police detective Callie Saunders shouldn't be alive, but she's been thriving with her new lease on life away from the machinations of the ancient Greek gods and goddesses.

But there's always been someone missing from this little piece of paradise.

When a vengeful god kidnaps her son, she travels back to a world she barely understands to find him. A world where she must face humanity's greatest enemies and her former lover. If she's not careful, she'll lose her soul again. And maybe even her heart.

I knew the main character died (its right there in the blurb people) but the way it happened at the end of the first chapter was like wow so we are doing this (insert laughter here). From then on it really goes haywire....and ya Callie dying not the highlight. It does get more insane and crazy and epic! (Oh and so I do not forget humor I have to mention my love for the line of those who died being like the DMV...I had a complete sloth zootopia flash but with dead people and I could not stop laughing) Let me start with Limbo. And immigration officers dealing with ghosts. Oh My God is was wonderful. That the after life starts off like the DMV and an office that runs so slow a snail moves faster. Oh I could not hold in the laughing. The journey to see Hades and the way Callie's mind works just made me laugh the entire time I read it. I do not think I have ever read a character so adept at sarcasm. The sly slightly dark but not mean kind of humor you have to chuckle to. And then when someone looks at you you cough and pretend you didn't laugh. It was pretty amazing. And that's just the first three chapters. It only gets better from there. Case in point read the book!

A wild roller coaster I have a lot hate relationship with this book. I loved it because your feet were swept out for under you at each turn but hated it for the same reason! The story is raw, emotional, and unexpected. The ending is the best - I can't think of a better one for Plutus and Callie! Their relationship has faced so much and the story of it is amazing. I highly recommend this book and the first one - Death is But a Dream. Great job Erin! I think you hit the ball outta the park with this one. Perfect sequel for this cast.

This book was so good I am going to work real hard to express to you the beauty and emotion and intensity without telling you spoilers. The other books in the series are good make no mistake about it, but there is something about this ending to the tale of Calli and Plutus that just does it for you. Calli shows just how strong and determined we humans can be and never takes no for an answer. At the same time Plutus is working so hard at trying to get them together. Hit after hit after hit, makes you wonder how much a person can take before they just say I'm done. An emotional strong tale of love and it's power, of the strength and determination of the human spirit and the power within a mother and love. Well done. I can hardly wait to see what this author will bring to us next and if I will survive it.
