When a series of bombs goes off in a Therian youth center, injuring members of THIRDS Team Destructive Delta and causing a rift between agents Dexter J. Daley and Sloane Brodie, peace seems unattainable. Especially when a new and frightening group, the Order of Adrasteia, appears to always be a step ahead. With panic and intolerance spreading and streets becoming littered with the Order’s propaganda, hostility between Humans and Therians grows daily. Dex and Sloane, along with the rest of the team, are determined to take down the Order and restore peace, not to mention settle a personal score. But the deeper the team investigates the bombings, the more they believe there’s a more sinister motive than a desire to shed blood and spread chaos.
Discovering the frightful truth behind the Order’s intent forces Sloane to confront secrets from a past he thought he’d left behind for good, a past that could not only destroy him and his career, but also the reputation of the organization that made him all he is today. Now more than ever, Dex and Sloane need each other, and, along with trust, the strength of their bond will mean the difference between justice and all-out war.

Blood and Thunder takes place approximately eight months after Hell & High Water. Dex is now firmly entrenched within Destructive Delta and is continuing his relationship with Sloane, although he does want more than what Sloane is prepared to give. He is patient though, and doesn't push things, especially when he knows that Sloane has no more to give right now. On top of this, they are still hunting for Isaac and putting out the numerous fires that he is starting. What can I say about this? It's been over a month since I read Hell & High Water but I was immediately immersed back into their world. So much going on, and I loved every thrilling, fast-paced moment of it. Not only do we see more of Sloane and Dex, but we get a couple more hints into Calvin and Hobbs, plus Ash and Cael. It's not all plain sailing for Sloane and Dash though, and my heart broke for both of them, although I did still want to wump Sloane upside the head with his 'official reprimand'. There way many, MANY laugh out loud moments, surprisingly enough involving Dex. I honestly don't think I could cope with him in real life, but as a character, he is brilliant! This was an exceptionally well written addition to the series, deepening and developing all the characters and their relationships with each other. There were no editing or grammatical errors that I noticed, and the story itself was compelling reading. Absolutely recommended by me. * Verified Purchase ~ April 2017 * Merissa Archaeolibrarian - I Dig Good Books!

This is a series that could prove very addictive for readers. The action never stops and with all that is happening in the story it makes for a book that readers won’t want to put down until the find out how it ends. It will also have them reading the rest of the series to see how the overall story arc ends and what happens to all the different characters that make for an unforgettable book. With just the first two books in the series it really stands out in this genre and will have readers wanting to see what else the author has written.
The THIRDS series continues with this next installment (Book # 2) of Dexter J Daley & Sloane Broadie. The search continues for a terrorist who has made even those who protect feel unsafe. We see more of the characters from the team within Destructive Delta. This book can be read as standalone. For reader enjoyment, I recommend reading this series in correct order. The team is still chasing bad guys while working to be a cohesive team now that Dex is a permanent part of it. Sloane is unhappy that he cannot stop wanting Dex. Thinking about him all the time, seeing him in his dreams, it is taking its toll. Dex, for his credit is basically the new hero on the team. While he came in to THIRDS with high qualifications as well as personal recommendations; the team finally gets to see him in action and why he is the powerhouse behind the funny. Tragedy strikes and suddenly team members realize how short life could be. Hitting to close to home, this bomb was intended to scare the powers that be by harming law enforcement. Now there is more at stake for them to find the attacker. I love how the team works together. I also feel pride for the acceptance of Dex. How they kind of really want him to work out. The other familiar characters that we love are in this book also. I found it to be an incredible part 2 and a terrific story! Dex & Sloane is the new OTP in M/M Romance.
On the heels of book 1, Hell & High Water, I instantly jumped into #2. And was not disappointed. With Isaac being a major pain, planning a war the THIRDS needs to stop at any cost, and harming innocent civilians in the process, there is no down time for Sloane and Dex’s team. In between a youth center being blown up and other bombs going off, they are constantly on edge. Even worse – Sloane is on edge. Which is exactly what Isaac wants. This is a page turner, from beginning to end. You won’t want to stop. Dex is still his humorous self, and what he did for Calvin & Hobbs I absolutely loved. I also loved what Cael did for him with Sloane. At the end of the book Sloane ended up where he began – where his nightmares reside – before his current life. Can he handle it and save his partner? If only secret groups wouldn’t stop attacking someone. Whether that’s Humans4Dominance attacking innocent Therians, or Therians prepared for war and attacking humans. All-in-all, I’m pretty sure there will be no dull time in the THIRDS and New York City for some time to come. Now, on to #3… Reviewed by a-nony-mouse for Crystal’s Many Reviewers *Copy BOUGHT for review*
This book was just awesome. And if you thought Dex was funny in the last back, he amps up his charm in this book. You gotta love a man who enjoys singing karaoke. Though everything is not peachy keen with Destructive Delta, they are doing everything they can to stop Isaac. There are problems between Dex and Sloan, but what do you expect when Sloan won’t open up to him. A relationship is a two way street and Sloan can’t expect Dex to keep taking him back when he runs away from what they have. The question is will Sloan get his head out of his butt before he loses Dex for good? While reading this book, my daughter told me books can’t be that funny, that’s how much I was laughing when it came to Dex. Little does she know if you find just the right book and the author is dead in with the humor, you will crack up at every funny part. Love this series!
Another 4 1/2 Book two starts off months after book one finishes. In the ‘missing months’ the THIRDS are getting closer to finding Pearce and his followers and things are moving slowly but smoothly with Dex and Sloane’s secret relationship. This one has us right back in the thick of the battle, with the team chasing down The Order of Adrasteia, this is the radical group Pearce has founded to try and stop the THIRDS. Dex is as crazy, sarcastic and lovable as ever, but I didn't find myself smiling at his shenanigans quite so much. Although I did wish the author had given us the actual scene with the squirrel in the cafeteria. Instead, they just reminisced about it. However, I did very much enjoy the speech Dex gave and the chase around the training room when Sloane was a black jaguar. And that he keeps grooming Dex. But, as we learn what that means the Therian side accepts him, possessive of him. What had me wondering is if the black jaguar/Therian side can remember when they are in that form, then how does Sloane not accept this when he’s human? We did find out all about Sloane, his past and where and how he grew up. Why he was recruited at such a young age. We also find out that Cael really does love Ash, but duh, we knew that. Calvin and Hobbs kiss after Hobbs was hurt. So maybe something more is going there that we get to see in bk 3? We are also introduced to a few new characters. But once again, the author does an amazing job with keeping them all straight and not mucking up the storyline with too many people. As the story unfolds and the team gets closer to finding Pearce, Dex and Sloane are at odds with each other over a mission that didn't go according to plan and Dex got hurt. Lou, Dex ex-boyfriend shows back up, which doesn't help matters. We find we have lots of drama between all of the team members Destructive Delta, Unit Alpha. And even though the author does a pretty good job doing flash back, so if anyone hasn't read bk 1 they won’t be that lost. But you really do need to read in order. But once again, I was left scratching my head with the too many inconsistencies. The whole grooming thing for one, if one side is possessive than why not the other, as we find out more about Gabe and that relationship. How does the team not suspect? Especially when Cael tells Sloane he knows about him and Gabe. And then ending, really again?!
Love this book two as much of not more than book one. Please don't stop writing this series!
