“Blood Truth” [Black•Dagger Legacy series bk. #4] by: J R Ward … is another 5 Stars! (Boone's story). Highly recommended! This action-pact, fast paced novel, is a ‘who done it’ kind of thriller! All your emotions get involved too. I strongly encourage to read this series in order, for better understanding of the characters & their backgrounds. Can't wait for the next Novel in the Black•Dagger Brotherhood & Legacy series! Reviewed by: WolfeeTx!

I didn't know what to think going into this book. Boone was never a favorite character of mine or one that stood out in any way for me throughout past stories. Color me surprised when I actually got into both stories in this book! Helaine was an interesting character because of the circumstances with her sister. Other than that there wasn't much to her. She's an introvert and a recluse by choice. Her sister was the life of the party and she was happy being off to the side. That isn't a bad thing (because I, too, am an introvert) but it doesn't make for an incredible character. Boone and the investigation were the most exciting things that happened to her in the last few years of her life. She was a nice character to get to know but not my favorite. It was great getting to know Boone better. He was a very kind and respectful guy. He always wanted to do the right thing to help the people he loved. I ended up liking him very much by the end of the book. With the way the last BDB book ended, I was very invested in what would happen next with that whole situation. As interesting and heart-pounding as the end of Butch's investigation ended up being I still don't like Butch. It's also why I skipped his book altogether in the BDB series. There's something about the way his character is written that I dislike. I can respect him and his struggles and the help he's been to the BDB but I still can barely stand him. The ending was great because I didn't see who the culprit was until the very end! Boone and Helaine's happily ever after was so sweet! Looking ahead to the next book in this series I don't see where it's going, especially because it'll feature Rhage's half brother who hasn't even been introduced anywhere in the books. I'm curious and I'll leave it at that! My Favorite Quotes: "Some things death did not change. Some things death made worse." "You can get through almost anything as long as you know it won't last forever." "Ah, fiction. So much better than reality."

Blood Truth is book 4 in the Black Dagger Legacy (BDL) Series; however, it runs chronological order with the Black Dagger Brotherhood Series (BDB). So the proper reading order if you want to understand the larger picture of what is going on in the bigger BDB universe is to read Blood Truth after The Savior. A big chunk of The Savior will be blown if you read them out of order. Also, I am a huge proponent for reading books in order for a better understanding, and BDB is one of those series that you really can’t start from the middle.   Blood Truth follows Boone the last of the latest batch of trainees. It also follows Butch who’s original book was Lover Revealed (Book 4). Coincidence?   Boone story was great, and he has gone through a personal tragedy, yet he doesn’t feel the way he thinks he should. He is expressing his emotions through rage. That gets him to put off rotation when he is injured. He then gets recruited to help Butch solve a serial killer case.  That is how he meets Helaine. She is at first a suspect, but when its learned that she is suffering from her tragedy, her and Boone form a bond.   Like most of the BDL books, I love the secondary story more. I loved seeing where Butch was at although he is a character we know a lot of in other books much like Vishous. I was surprised Butch’s story didn’t revolve around him and Marissa, but more around him missing his old life as a cop and a human. It was an exciting twist.   One huge plus on this story is I didn’t guess on the bad guy. I had a guess, but it was wrong. I love it when I don’t figure it out right away.   I loved this addition to the BDB world and can’t wait for the next installment Where Winter Finds You, November can’t come soon enough. I also really loved the interview at the end of the audiobook. It was an excellent surprise.

That's all I can really say. Just amazing. The whole plot, the tension as you read the story, it all just worked. I have to say that Wrath just .... well he's Wrath. Sooo hot! They all are, but ahh Wrath. He hasn't been seen much of lately but he showed up several times in the story and wow. Miss more of him. But back to the book itself. I just absolutely loved it. Now I'm gonna pout till another comes out. Happy reading!

J.R.Ward's world of vampires is one of the best in the genre. Part four of the Black Dagger Legacy books, Blood Truth, is the tale of the final trainee Boone. After an injury takes him out of the field, Boone works to solve a murder case. During the investigation, he meets Helaine and is instantly drawn to her, as she is to him. Boone and the rest of the trainee group for that matter, have escaped the glymera's aristocratic confines, which thrills me to no end. It appears the largest conflicts come from their old world, prejudice beliefs, and the next generation is rising above it. Boone struggles with this in his household, but Helaine supports him in coming to terms with it. The couple has great chemistry, and they meet at a time when they both require a change in their lives. Although the core focus is not on the Brotherhood, they are still present throughout Boone's story. I enjoy that every legacy book assumes a minor pause from the main BDB story arc. I enjoy the trainees interacting with the Brothers away from the war. Blood Truth, for example, is predominantly a murder mystery. Butch puts his detective shoes on, and it is delightful to experience. I have a secret hope he can eventually go back to that full time. These books possess a unique voice, are suspenseful and witty. I typically find little wrong when reading from the Black Dagger Brotherhood world. I did experience some minor annoyance during Blood Truth with the convenient wrap up of the murders and a lack of thorough explanation, but I can live with that. Everything else lives up to my expectations.
