I have been struggling with candida for 10 years. Over that time, I have read bits and pieces in many different sources - a lot of which was confusing and/or conflicting. "The Body Ecology Diet" was recommended to me by my acupuncturist. What a great find! Donna Gates does an excellent job of explaining what candida is and how it happens. She does the best job, however, explaining how it affects the body, how what we eat affects the body and how what we eat affects the candida. After 10 years, I finally understand that candida is something that needs to be managed over time - it can never be "cured" because there will always be some yeast/fungus in our bodies. The recommended diet in this book would benefit anyone with digestive problems or serious health issues because it eliminates those foods which cause/compound many problems for most people today. I will be sending this as a Christmas gift to several people.

This book is a MUST read from anyone lacking in energy or feeling a bit "off". I am a full-on energy person, my job requires a lot of attention to people and my ability to stay up & positive so when over the course of about a year I wasn't feeling myself, I found The Body Ecology book just in time! I have implemented honestly only maybe 60% of it's teaching's since I wasn't suffering as full-on as some people are. You can start with one basic thing that actually is easier than you think: CUT ALL SUGAR. I did, and luckily I was not/am not a sugar addict, so this wasn't too bad. But by doing that 1 thing, I felt enormous difference in 72 hours. By then, I poured over this book cover-to-cover, went through my kitchen cupboards, and lost about 5 pounds in 3 weeks! No bloat, no sluggish feeling. Can't say enough about The Body Ecology book. I think I'm bugging my friends talking about so much! Run don't walk!!

Donna Gates makes it very easy to understand why eating a very healthy diet that contains the things that are natural and healing for your body makes your whole life a delight. She uses sound advice from sound knowledge and common sense to back up her claims. This and some other recommendations (Rawsome, by Bridgitte Mars, a book about detoxing from addictive foods.) are all you need to get on the right path to healthier days.
