Overview

YOU CAN LOOK . . .

Threatened by underworld boss Michael Trotta, Alessandra Lamont is nearly blown to pieces in a mob hit. The last thing she wants is to put what's left of her life into the hands of the sexy, loose-cannon federal agent who seems to look right through her yet won't let her out of his sight.

BUT YOU BETTER NOT TOUCH . . .

FBI agent Harry O'Dell's ex-wife and son were tragic casualties in his ongoing war against organized crime. He'll do whatever it takes to bring Trotta down—even if it means sticking like glue to this blonde bombshell who unwittingly married into the mob. She needs him if she wants to stay alive. But staying alive is nothing next to the explosive attraction that threatens to consume them both—and puts them into the greatest danger of all . . . falling in love.

After childhood plans to become the captain of a starship didn’t pan out, Suzanne Brockmann took her fascination with military history, her respect for the men and women who serve, her reverence for diversity, and her love of storytelling and explored brave new worlds as a New York Times bestselling romance author. Over the past twenty years, she has written more than fifty novels, including her award-winning Troubleshooters series about Navy SEAL heroes and the women—and sometimes men—who win their hearts. In addition to writing books, Suzanne Brockmann has co-produced a feature-length movie, the award-winning romantic comedy The Perfect Wedding, which she co-wrote with her husband, Ed Gaffney, and their son, Jason. First book by this author. Loved it. Will read more by her. Good suspense, good characters, good romance. Well written, keeps your interest from the start.

Harry O'Dell would be boring if he was perfect. I enjoyed the funny banter between Alessandra and Harry. This was my First Suzanne Brockmann book and will not be my last.

I truely loved this book. I love that Harry isnt perfect. To many times the hero is nearly to perfect, so Harry was great as a normal type of hero. Alesandra was also wonderful. I felt so much for Harry's kids too! Hands down this book is a keeper for me and a definate re-read also.

Read this once before -- it's still an excellent book. Didn't remember the title though and took it out of the library.

This is the first Suzanne Brockmann book I have read that is not part of one of her Navy SEALs series. I enjoyed it very much - Brockmann¿s characters are always realistic, and certainly don't always do the right or likeable thing. They are definitely flawed people, and that makes the story interesting. You have to love these unconventional characters. This little spiel comes from the hero - Harry - said to the heroine - Alessandra - right in the middle of the story. She¿s upset with him for withholding important information, and Harry - being who he is - certainly doesn¿t turn into a stereotypical Harlequin hero: ¿When you sit that way, you look kind of like a beach ball with a head,¿ he continued. ¿Your haircut is really, really bad, I¿m probably going to lose my job for helping you this way, and I¿m dying to f**k you.¿ He glanced at her. ¿That honest enough for you?¿ Alessandra married a rich mob man, gave up all of her dreams because he wanted her to, and then was promptly abandoned seven years later. Her husband was murdered and left Alessandra in colossal debt and with her own life in danger. Harry - a man whose family has been ripped to shreds by these same people - is an FBI agent who reluctantly takes over her protection. He makes a lot of assumptions about her based on her looks, and finds out fast that he¿s completely wrong about her, about who she is. There were twists and turns I didn¿t anticipate; not everyone has to get a happy ending for a book to be good. It was actually quite brave the way Brockmann made sure not everything was tied up with a pretty bow. The whole story came across as more realistic that way. There was an epilogue where it seemed things ended up quite nicely for most of the characters; but then after everything they¿d been through they deserved a bit of happiness. I did not expect to enjoy this book as much as I did. It was supposed to be filler while I waited for my other Brockmann Navy SEALs books to arrive. But it is a wonderful, complex story with original characters and an engaging romance. Very easily five stars.

I read this several years ago when I first discovered Brockmann's books. This one isn't as good as those in the SEALS/Troubleshooters series...The chemistry between harry and Aly is great, but she's a bit too whiny for my tastes. I found myself wondering why, other than her often described and repeated beauty, Harry was so intrigued by her. This was a decent distraction from chores...

J: This might be a good story but after almost 100 pages it is starting out too slow for me. Maybe I'll try again later but for now I will move on to something more exciting.

The main characters' storyline was pretty good, well written. But, there are secondary characters that are so depressing I'm going to have to buy and read another book just to get rid of the aftertaste. Can't say it was a total waste, but I'm not exactly thrilled either.

Awesome book!! It was defiantly a page turner!! When I wasn't reading it, I was daydreaming about what would happen next! I am defiantly going to read it a second time!! This one of my favorite books by this author! I've read so many books by Suzanne Brockmann(great author) and this was one of the most touching ones!!! One thing I didn't like so much was the end of another character's story! I loved Shaun (one of Harry's kids) and Harry himself!! And, of course, Allie was AWESOME!!!

Read the book in just 2 days. It was a great page-turner! Harry O'Dell was an exciting hero, and Allie kept him on his toes! A definite summer beach read!

This is my first Suzanne Brockman book and I am hooked. I was very reluctant to get any of her books because I wasn't sure if I would like them. I am so happy I did. I read this book in a couple of days and then went out and got about four more of her books. Ms. Brockman is a great writer and her characters are so real.

I couldn't put this book down, and when I was done reading it all I wanted to do was read it again! You will love this story. Harry and Allie and George are all amazing characters...you really couldn't ask for more character depth than Brockman gives you. By the end of the book, you'll be completely head over heels for Harry! This is a definite must read!

I read to escape and fantasize. The fact that Harry O'Dell is NOT perfect bored me.

I cannot get over how well Suzanne Brockmann is able to establish different emotional responses in each of her books. Each of her heros personalities deals with tough emotional problems so differently. Here, Harry, shuts himself off emotionally from his family and world until he finally realizes he 'needs' someone. Suzanne develops him beautifully, as well as her heroine. I can only say read this one and all of her books!!! Can't lose
