This sensual tale was engaging, interesting, and even funny from start to finish. That special twist where the damsel is the one doing the seduction and the man was the first thing that caught my attention and I’m really glad it did. Spencer has some sort of emotional issues that originated in his childhood. He was some kind of introverted and shy child, preferring books and time alone over the company of others. Kids his age saw this as an opportunity for bullying poor Spencer and that only made him more reclusive and more peculiar in the eyes of society. As he grew older and he continued being casted off by others, he submerged more and more into his own world, apart from social events, people, even his own family and the few friends he managed to make. Eventually he became a hermit and left all of society by secluding himself in a lonely place. Philomena had a tragic past but decided to face it with as much dignity as possibly as she could manage. Once she was able to, she became mistress of her own brothel and thought she was as happy as she could ever be but deep in her heart she knew she was missing something. However when she was approached by Spencer’s friends with the prospective of ending Spencer’s self-imposed exile she saw it as an opportunity to add a little bit of excitement to her monotonous life. When she and Spencer meet, sparks fly of course and they give each other what they need, teaching each other a life lesson they will never forget. The chemistry between the two was amazing and despite the fact there is a mistress and a novice in the mix there is plenty of emotional build up. I loved the fact that Philomena knew her craft so well that she knew there was no need to be overexposed, as if she knew her power came from within. Confidence is sexy! Granted, she also knew how to work her looks to her advantage, but she was after all, doing her job. Spencer was such a sweet-heart and I could see why he turned out the way he was after learning more about him. I’ve said this before but I’ll say it again, it’s all about the romance. The fact that this story revolved completely around the main couple and there was no foreign force or outside enemy trying to thwart their happiness but rather it was about their own inner struggles and how they each managed to overcome what was keeping them apart made this story a must-read for me. I’d love to know more about the couple and since this is just the first of a series I know we’ll be hearing from them soon enough. ** I received a copy of this story in exchange for an honest review **

Bold Seduction is my first book by Karyn Gerrard and I already look forward to the next. Ms Gerrard has delivered a well-written book. Her characters are phenomenal and a perfect fit for this awesome story. Spence and Phil's (Philomena) tale is loaded with laugh out loud humor, drama and sizzle. I totally enjoyed reading Bold Seduction and look forward to reading more from Karyn Gerrard in the future. Bold Seduction is book 1 of The Hornsby Brothers Series but can be read as a standalone. This is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.

A fine story of a virgin, eccentric professor living in a isolated area, the the madam who awakens him to sensual pleasures. Lots of heat and emtions. ALso loved the Irish wolfhounds!

I wanted to love this story – to jump in and have no questions unanswered, no situation too far beyond my ability to suspend disbelief. Fortunately, for most of the story I was able to do just that… Philomena (Phil) and her brothel, wanting to settle down and get out of the business end of the business made sense. I could understand that. Where I had more problems was the 30 year old 3rd son of a Duke, Spencer. OK – the standard is that the third son is usually the wastrel rake… off doing his own thing and relying on charm and wit to get him out of the many scrapes. But no… Spencer is a solid bookworm with low self-esteem, awkward social skills and no moment where he one, in his 30 years, ever bothered even to go to a brothel. He’s virginal and destined to stay that way until someone flips a switch. His story was sad but most probably not unusual – but I had a really hard time reconciling his behavior with his position. Totally on me. Gerrard did most of what was needed to make things work…but I still had the feeling that several sub-plots were missing resolutions that didn’t feel convenient or felt ignored altogether. I couldn’t LOVE this book, but could enjoy it and appreciate the series, hoping for more to love in the next. I received an eArc copy of the title from the publisher via NetGalley for purpose of honest review. I was not compensated for this review: all conclusions are my own responsibility.

Courtesan and virginal scholar makes sparks fly! Two people that would seem to have nothing in common find much to pursue in this well-crafted story in which the woman is more sexually knowledgeable than the gentleman. I loved the fact that though both Philomena and Spencer had issues to overcome in their earlier lives they became stronger individuals as a result of what they endured. I believe Philomena might have been more in tune with herself and definitely more worldly aware than Spencer but both learned and grew through their encounter in Wales. I also enjoyed the wolfhounds, Justinian and Theodora, and the way the history of who the dogs were named after was woven into the story. This was a fun and heartwarming novella that was definitely worth reading. I have never read anything by this author before but look forward to reading more books by her soon! Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for the copy of this book to read and review.

#1 in a new Gothic-style Victorian Historical romance. "The Hornsby Brothers". Which is fast paced, and very passionate. A courtesan and a professor. An experienced woman of seduction and a virgin of seduction find their HEA. Well written with a couple of Wolf Hounds, a dark, damp, secluded castle, a reclusive professor, a birthday present, a Courtesan, all added to the mix make an exciting, seductive read. The sensual scenes are erotic but not overly explicit. I read it in one setting. A powerful tale of romance and finding your true soul mate against all odds. Compelling, exciting and seductive. I can't wait Book 2. Well done, indeed. *Received for an honest review from the publisher via Net Gallery* Rating: 4 Heat rating: steamy Reviewed by: April R, courtesy of My Book Addiction and More
