About the Author

Philip Bertram Murray Allan (1884-1973) was born in Yorkshire, England. An avid entomologist, he served in military intelligence during World War I, as well as founding and working as publisher of The Police Journal and The Journal of Criminal Law. His works include A Moth-Hunter’s Gossip (1937), Talking of Moths (1943), Moths and Memories (1948), and Leaves from a Moth-Hunter’s Notebooks (1980).
