Overview

Bernie, as he prefers to be called, ?rst wrote about miracles when he was a practicing surgeon and pioneered Exceptional Cancer Patients, a groundbreaking synthesis of group, individual, dream, and art therapy that provided patients with a "carefrontation." His safe and loving approach facilitated patients' awareness of their own physical, spiritual, and psychological healing potential. Compiled during his more than thirty years of practice, speaking, and teaching, the stories here are riveting, warm, and belief expanding. Their subjects include a girl whose baby brother helped her overcome anorexia, a woman whose cancer helped her heal by teaching her to stand up for herself, and even a family that was saved from a burning house by bats. Without diminishing the reality of pain and hardship, the stories show real people turning crisis into blessing by responding to adversity in ways that empower and heal. They offer readers the same opportunity.

In times when we are often overwhelmed with health, personal, economic and life "issues", this compilation of miracle stories submitted by everyday people, is a poignant reminder that even in the darkest of days, Miracles can and will appear even if we don't ask for them! Once again, Bernie Siegel, MD has lent his name, his energy, his focus, his wisdom and his love to guiding and supporting those of us who face, or have faced, medical challenges, loss and grief. In full disclosure, I was one of the contributing authors to this compilation of miracles, and it is an honor to have my miracles join with all of the others here in "A Book of Miracles. Perhaps we don't realize the impact any one of us may have on others when we take a moment of our time to reach out to those who are facing difficult times. A simple smile, or taking time to listen can often be the turning point or healing moment for person in the midst of overwhelming life issues. This book is a wonderful reminder to BELIEVE in Miracles!
