Professor Lewis R. Gordon (Brown University) has produced a masterpiece in this ground- breaking text. As co-editor of the newly formed 'Books in the Africana Thought series,' Gordon certainly has the knowledge required of a task of this magnitude. Working from his existential phenomenological background, the writer explores aspects of Africana philosophy, in Africa, the Caribbean, and the U.S. No Fanonian or DuBoisian student or scholar should be without this book.
