Another hit for the Havenwood Falls Series!!! Affliction Mine is a Novella by C. J. Pinard. I have to admit that I wasn't sure about several authors writing with a cohesive vision of a complex and diverse setting like this series, but I'm blown away with each installment. Each novella is stand alone and builds one every other story and characters. With each novella, I can't wait to read more and find out more of the hidden secrets that are so a part of this world. This Novella focuses on a new character named Karson Kane. Karson has ties to our charming town, but left several years prior when his mother died, leaving his father and cousins behind. When he receives a forbidden e-mail from his cousin, he makes his way to the town only to find nothing but drama. To start, he's supposed to remember, but the memories are taking far too long to come back. Next, his cousin is in serious trouble for breaking the rules and contacting him. And finally, his uncle is in 'supernatural prison'. Add to that, his own temper, a trip to the hospital and Scottlin, the really amazing woman who treated him and you have another amazing installment to the Havenwood Falls Collection!

He's an elf, she's half witch and half human. Turn the page and let the magic happen! I really enjoy the Havenwood Falls series, so I was ecstatic when I saw this one by Ms. Pinard. True to her style, this story is well written and fast-paced, with enough romantic tension to keep you turning each page until the dreaded words, "The End". And for folks new to the series, there's enough detail to immerse yourself in the story without having to play catch-up and feel you have to start from the very beginning.

An entertaining novella that sets up well for future stories about Scottlin and Karson. I enjoyed Karson rediscovery of his family and home town and how the story touches on the effects of abuse. Scottlin is a great character, her caring nature and strength show well in the story. I look forward to hearing more about both of these characters.
