I served with Captain Phelps during this period. He view the war from the perspective of a 29 year old officer and I through the eyes of a 20 year old enlisted man. I was present for all most all of the ER incidents described in the book . He is accurate in his descriptions of these event. While in Viet Nam he spent a great deal of time writing, to the point that the other enlisted men and myself wondered what he could be writing about. Now we know. The book was also informative. For example I had no idea that officers clubs with white table cloths existed in An Khe. A very good book. Truly depicts a part of the war that is often over looked.
